1
General

Description of the System

Technology The TCPS is a sophisticated wireless data transfer device designed especially for the transfer of geomatic data between two TCPS. The TCPS28 and TCPS29 contain different radio modules. TCPS28 can be only connected to TCPS28, RH15, CS field controller with internal radio. TCPS29 can be only connected to TCPS29, RH16, CS field controller with CTR16 attached. Frequency The TCPS28/TCPS29 operate in the "2.4 GHz radio band". Using the latest in spreadEN spectrum, frequency hopping technology, ensures maximum security for the high speed, wireless transfer of data.

Physical features

Housing The robust housing made from light metal meets the IP65 standards and provides a high level of protection against environmental influences such as rain and dust. Antenna The robust antenna is variable in orientation and ensures highest radio performance. The antenna should be attached for application. Antenna extension cable (for example GEV141, 1.2 m) can be used.

As a pair - TCPS28

TCPS28B and TCPS28R can be used directly as a wireless data connection with Leica Geosystems equipment and computers. Baud rates of the TCPS28B and TCPS28R must be the same. Baud rates set in the TCPS28's must be equal to the serial connection rates. Link numbers in the TCPS28B and TCPS28R must be the same. Note, that one TCPS28 needs to be set to Base, the other on Remote. For the TCPS29, a differentiation between remote and base is not needed. The configuration and pairing is done by searching from one device for the other.

EN

Configuration TCPS28

Pairing and configuration TCPS29

General principals

To achieve ideal TCPS28/TCPS29 radio performance, the antennas should be aligned perpendicular to the line of sight. This can be best achieved by using the tripod adapter GHT43 (734163) or by positioning the variable antenna of the TCPS28/TCPS29 upright.

TCPS28

Configuration
TCPS28
The TCPS28 can be configured: on TS15/TS30/TM30/TPS1200+ instruments, or on CS10/CS15, or using TCPS ConfigTool. In the SmartWorx Viva Interface panel set the link, the Remote/Base setting as well as the defaults. Refer to the TS15/TS30/TM30/TPS1200+ Technical Reference Manual for more information. The TCPS Config Tool allows additionally to change the baud rate of the radio module itself. On CS10/CS15 the configuration is only possible in SmartWorx Viva mode, not in Terminal Mode. Refer to "2 Operation" for information on how to connect a TCPS28 with remote controller, total station or computer.

TCPS29

TCPS29
The TCPS29 does not need a special configuration. Using the TCPS29 with a computer, the pairing to another radio device can be done with the help of the TCPS Config Tool. Using the TCPS29 on a TS, the TCPS29 is a passive device only. It is impossible to search and pair from the TS. The pairing routine has to take place either from CS15 controller with CTR16 attached or from a computer where another TCPS29 is attached and the TCPS Config Tool running. The TCPS Config Tool can be found on SmartWorx/SmartWorx Viva DVD and myWorld. The tool is used to: View and change settings in the TCPS29. Execute the search and pair routine for the TCPS29. Trouble Shooting
To be checked: External battery is charged. The red link indicator is on. The cable is properly connected between the TCPS, battery and the TPS1200+/TS30/TM30/CS10/CS15. Check instrument's interface setting and configuration. Refer to the TPS1200+/TS30/TM30 Technical Reference Manual for more information. For TCPS28: Link numbers between the two units is the same. Refer to "2 Operation". For TCPS28: Reset the factory default settings of the TCPS28 and the radio partner in order to synchronise settings. Refer to "3 Configuration". Check that the baud rate set in the radios is equal to that of the serial baud rate. EN

Range is not optimal

To be checked: Antenna of TCPS28 is oriented vertically by using either the tripod adapter for TCPS28 or align the movable antenna. Both antennas are orientated approximately perpendicular to the line of sight. Minimal obstructions in the radio range and surrounding. Environment of powerfull transmitters working within the same frequency band may cause disturbances. For TCPS28: Avoid working with the same link setting as other users nearby.
