closedsalesup13%comparedtoSeptember2011.Theyeartodateclosingfigurewasalsoup15%
comparedtoJanuarySeptemberoflastyear.Thenumberofpropertiesplacedintoapendingstatusonthe
MultipleListingService(MLS)duringSeptember2012wasup20%comparedtothesamemonthlastyear.
ManyoftheseSeptemberpendingpropertieswillshowassoldinOctober.Theaverageandmedianpricesfor
Septemberwereupabout3%and6%,respectively,comparedtoSeptember2011;andtheyeartodate
averageandmedianpricesremainedupabout34%.

InJeffersonCountythe2012yeartodateaveragepriceremainedat$167kandthemedianpriceis$138k.
Theinventoryofhomesandcondoscurrentlyforsaleisaboutthesameasthistimelastyear,withabout
4400forsaleinJeffersonCountyand7200totalforsaleintheGreaterLouisvillemultiplelistingsystem.

Asinpreviousmonths,recordlowinterestratescontinuetofuelpurchasesbyowneroccupantbuyersand
investorsinSeptember.Theselowrates(e.g.mid3%for30yrandhigh2%for15yrowneroccupant
financingwithgoodcredit)willkeephousingaffordabilityatveryfavorablelevelsforthecomingmonths.
