Cubellotti: East Havens Spiking Unemployment Proves Albis-Malloy Plan is Failing

EAST HAVEN The Town of East Haven continues to maintain one of the areas highest unemployment figures compared to other nearby towns at a rate of 10.0%, higher than both the state and national averages. Craig Cubellotti, Republican and Independent Party nominee for State Representative for the 99th District which includes East Haven said these alarming numbers from the State Labor Department are proof that there is no economic stewardship from Governor Malloy or incumbent Democratic State Representative James Albis who has rubber-stamped every one of Malloys policies as a member of the House. Governor Malloy and James Albis have had two years to make a difference and deliver to the people of East Haven, said Cubelloti. What they have given us instead is higher taxes, spiking unemployment, and sustained budget deficits. Its time to choose the path to economic prosperity and make some changes in Hartford, and that starts with new members of the state legislature. Cubellotti noted that in addition to East Havens sagging jobs situation, Albis and Malloy have supported a nearly $2 billion per year tax increase aimed squarely at the middle class, including income tax increases on those making over $50,000, while 5,000 Connecticut businesses have closed their doors in the first five months of 2012 alone. Despite this massive tax increase, state spending has also increased nearly $1 billion per year, said Cubellotti. My opponent and Governor Malloy told us two years ago that we would need shared sacrifice. I havent seen any sacrifice from government, but I can see that the people of East Haven are continuing to sacrifice daily and its unnecessary. Cubellotti expressed his hope that the voters would soon hear from Rep. Albis as to why he supports these and other damaging policies. My opponent has been rather silent, and I suppose if I had the record he has I would be too, said Cubellotti. I am looking forward to debating my opponent, and letting the residents of East Haven hear directly from him why he support these kinds of economic policies that have brought us where we are. I also look forward to the opportunity to share my vision to change course at the State Capitol.
