(OKLN- Opinyon Ko Lang Naman) NO TO CYBERCRIME LAW!

by Poll Anthony R. Santillan

MUNGKAHI People's opinion/judgment on a certain bill should be asked/considered before it becomes a law, I suggest. The power to enact a certain law should not emanate from the congress alone. It needs the people's opinion for they are the ones who will benefit from it. LET OUR VOICES BE HEARD!!! TANONG Why did the congress/senate pass that bill to become a law if they already knew in the first place that it would create something unwanted? Why didn't the president veto it when it was still a bill? Did he really read/study the bill before signing it to become a law? (I don't think so) WHAT KIND OF LEADER IS HE? SINO ANG DAPAT SISIHIN? People should pin the blame more on the people who let the bill's enactment, not more on the person/people who made it. Who is to blame for poor leadership? We are. We ought to blame ourselves for we are responsible for electing leaders! We, the citizenry, are the authors of our own misfortune. We cry for leadership change with little inkling that the prevailing situation is of our own making. We, the Filipino people, should be the catalysts for change. We should be the dictators of our own land. LET'S REPLACE THE INCOMPETENT PEOPLE IN POSITION!!! ANYARE TE? It seems like the bill did not go through legislative process. The law, i think, did not follow the steps in the passage of a bill: 1. First Reading 2. Referral to appropriate committee 3. Second Reading 4. Debates 5. Printing and distribution 6. Third Reading 7. Referral to the other house 8. Submission to joint bicameral committee 9. Submission to the President If they followed the process, then why is it that the law is unconstitutional? This law is indeed unconstitutional for the reason that the law, as applied, violates a provision of the constitution. Why did they let this to come into existence? WHAT ON EARTH WERE THEY DOIN'?
