August 31, 2012 Dear Parents and/or Guardians; Native Knowledge: Respecting and Owning our Living Culture

The 2012 Elder/Youth AFN Conference this year will be October 15-17, 2012 at the Denaina Civic Center in Anchorage. This year I will be chaperoning the tribal youth who may be interested in attending. This years theme will be utilized for the selection of youth who will represent NVE. Please have your child write up an essay on how this theme will impact their lives in the future. The deadline for submission will be September 24, 2012 so that I can involve our elders in the selection process and also to arrange travel, registration and permission forms signed in a timely manner. Keep in mind that travels for youth is dependent on a grade check. Youth have to maintain a C or above for travel. Eligible students to include ages 13-18 years. I will notify those selected on September 27, 2012. Travel will be from October 14-18, 2012. Travel will be provided by NVE. If you should have any questions please feel free to contact me. 2012 College Fair For the current Junior and Senior students, we will once again be providing travel to attend the 2012 College Fair in Anchorage, Alaska. The dates of travel for this will be October 20-21, 2012. Please contact me if you are interested in attending this beneficial opportunity so that we can start arranging travel.
