Explanation of Symbols
The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol, with an equilateral triangle, is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated "dangerous voltage" within the product's enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons. Important Safeguard

Use a damp cloth for cleaning the unit. 6) Attachments Do not use attachments not recommended by the product manufacturer as they may cause hazards. 7) Water and Moisture Do not use this product near water, for example near a bath tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, or laundry tube in a wet basement or near a swimming pool and the like. 8) Accessories Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand, tripod, bracket or table. The product may fall, causing serious injury to a child or adult, and serious damage to the product. Use only with a cart, stand, tripod, bracket or table recommended by the manufacturer, or sold with the product. Prior to use
This is the basic manual for 4 channel DVR user. The content of this manual is focused on product introduction, installing method, connecting method with other devices, using method of various functional buttons, and system setting method with the setup menu. Before using the 4 channel DVR, this manual should be read not only by first users, but also by the users who are already familiar with this system or any other similar device in accordance with the precautions stated within the manual. Before getting started with the 4 channel DVR, it should be emphasized that the user must consult and receive help from the dealer where the product was purchased when opening the case and fixing the internal parts of the system for upgrade or repair. And also if you have any further questions related to using 4 channel DVR or think you have a problem with the product, please consult your dealer.

Unpacking
When you have purchased the 4 channel DVR, first unwrap the wrapping and set the 4 channel DVR on flat surface or on a location to use it. And then check if the following contents are include. Operation
1. Connect the AC Power Cord to the rear of DVR and plug into an electrical outlet. (NOTE : User must check Power Adjustment Switch before operation. This switch is at the rear of DVR unit)

2. Press the Power button, the Green LED indicates will turn ON. (NOTE : The System takes approximately 5 to 20 seconds to power up. During the PowerUp, you will see message on the screen. 3. If you see the message NOT DETECTED. Please check whether HDD is at the BAY.

Part Names and Functions


Before installing the product, you better know the name and function of each switch and buttons on the front and rear of the product.

Front View

NOTE : The HDD should be installed prior to turning the DVR ON. 1. SEARCH button : The SEARCH feature allows you to find recorded file easily. You can search video recordings by Time, Date or Event and To the beginning and To the End. 2. REWIND button : Pressing this button to stop playback or REW plays video backwards. 3. FAST FORWARD button : Pressing FF plays video forwards. For instructions on changing the FF speed. 4. STOP button : Press this button to stop playback or Recording. 5. PLAY/PAUSE button : This button serves two functions. 1) Pressing button for play plays recorded video. The DVR will play the last recorded video by default. 2) Pressing button for pause pauses the recorded video being played on screen. 6. RECORD button : Pressing the button to begin maual recording. 7. MENU button : Press this button to display main menu on the screen. 8. P/T : Press this button to control pan/tilt of Pan/Tilt/Zoom camera or Speed Dome Camera. 9. ZOOM/AF button : Press this button to control zoom and focus of Pan/Tilt/Zoom camera or Speed Dome Camera. 10. MODE button : Press this button to change variable display mode. ZOOM button : 1) Press this button to display the Zoom area Box on the screen for Live and Full display mode. 2) In P.B mode, the recorded picture can be displayed with zoom when the channel button select. (NOTE : Quad mode P.B only) 13, 15~17. Camera Number buttons/Move buttons : Camera Number buttons : Ch1, Ch2, Ch3, Ch4 : Full screen for each channel. Press the number of the camera you want to display on the screen. Move buttons : Navigate up, down, left, right through the menu, zoom, search mode. 14. ENTER button : Press this button to select Sub menu for menu change, and to change zoom area in zoom. 18. REMOTE : This infrared port receives signal from IR Remote controller.

1. Camera Input Connector (BNC) : These are input connectors for cameras. 2. Looped Through Output Connector (BNC) : These port can be used if you want to transmit a camera signal to external device. 3. MONITOR OUTPUT - MONITOR : This is BNC output connector for a Main Monitor Composite Output - S-VHS : This is S-VHS output connector for a monitor - QUAD : This is only Quad output for a Sub Monitor (Composite output) 4. ALARM IN/OUT Terminal : These are input and output terminals for alarm signals.

5. RS-485 Terminal : This terminal can be connected for control of PAN/TILT/ZOOM Camera or Speed Dome Camera. 6. AC Power INLET : the Power for this DVR System is for 100/220V AC power cord. 7. POWER Switch : On/Off of the Power for the DVR-400S. 8. RS-232C Terminal : RS-232C Interface port.

After you install the product and connect it to devices as needed, you are to perform the setup for system management. Get info the program mode and engage the setup menu as shown below.

Chapter 3 System Operation


This product can record video signal of asynchronous up to 4. Connect cameras, monitor, audio equipment and power cord to DVR system. (DVR system connection refer to installation section) Press the POWER button on the rear of the DVR to Turn on the system. Video signal from all 4 cameras display on the screen.

Live Mode

The each cameras name is displayed on the screen, depending on the setting of the Camera Name menu. The time and data is displyed on the screen, defending on the setting of the Date/Time Setup menu. The HDD information OSD is displayed on the screen, depending on the setting of the Information menu. HDD 05% refers to Used HDD, even if HDD is overwriting. If there is loss video signal, VIDEO LOSS appears on the screen.

Zoom Mode
You can operate the ZOOM button in full screen mode. You cannot operate the ZOOM button when a menu or search list are displayed on the monitor. The button doesnt work when DVR is in Auto mode and Freeze mode. 1. Display the Zoom area box by pressing the ZOOM button. , 2. Move the zoom area box to the desired position by pressing direction buttons . [ , 3. Press the ZOOM button to make the picture twice as large as the original picture size. 4. To exit the zoom picture on the screen, press the ZOOM button.

Multi-Screen Mode
You can change the display type PIP, Quad and Auto Sequence. Press the M-SCREEN button, you can switch Display mode. PIP Auto Sequence) (Quad In Auto Sequence mode, you can switch channel. (Ch1 Ch2 Ch3 Ch4) Dwell time of each channel is depending on the setting of the Auto Switch sub menu of Display Setup.

Recording Mode
1. Normal Recording - Press the RECORD button, the REC indicator lights on and REC signs will appear. - If there is loss video signal during recording, LOSS appear on the screen, however, recording is still processing. - Recording Mode : EACH or QUAD EACH mode : 7.5 fps (NTSC) / Channel, 6.25 fps (PAL) / Channel Quad mode : 30 fps (NTSC), 25 fps (PAL) 2. Schedule Recording Schedule Recording is depending on the setting of the Schedule Setup menu. 3. Event Recording Alarm recording Alarm recording depending on the setting of the Alarm Setup menu. Alarm recording commences upon either of the following conditions ; ALARM IN terminals is triggered by alarm sensor Camera detects motion If there is an alarm ; DVR begins alarm recording for all channels regardless of channel be detected. (When you set up the Camera of for specific channel on Menu, DVR begins alarm recording for all channels) An alarm index signal is automatically stored in memory when alarm recording begins. Refer to Playback section for reviewing the index search. If alarm recording stops, screen is changed to previous mode. Motion detection recording Motion detection recording is depending on the setting of the Motion Detection menu. When in the alarm recording mode, the DVR records for the entire alarm recording duration even if the end time specified in a schedule recording has been exceeded. Alarm recording also continues as long as motion is detected within the area established for motion detection. When motion stops, alarm recording continues for the time set in the Rec Time setting. When the HDD is full ; In case of Overwrite is Off, HDD Full message will be displayed and buzzer sounds. In case of Overwrite is On, HDD will be overwritten from beginning automatically.

Playback Mode
1. Playback ( ) and Pause ( ) 1) Press the PLAY ( )/PAUSE ( ) button, the display will be changed to EACH PLAY or QUAD accordingly. DVR begins to Playback at the start point of the lastest Recording sector. 2) Pressing button once again pauses the recorded video being played on screen. 2. Freeze Mode
1. In the live and quad screen mode, press FREEZE button at first and see the following instruction Press the Channel button (CH1, CH2, CH3, CH4) during in live mode, that channel of video picture will be frozen. Each time you press the channel button ; channel freeze and display of number on screen will be active and inactive. Press FREEZE button to exit from freeze mode. In PIP mode, press the channel button which user want to freeze. 2. In the live and quad screen mode, press FREEZE button, video picture will be frozen. Press FREEZE button to exit from freeze mode.

Search Mode

Troubleshooting
There are unexpected situations when you are not able to use the system properly. Even through there can be a serious problem to the system in cases like these, most of the times it can be solved with a little emergency treatment. In case of a problem in the DVR system, please check the following details. When the Power Doesnt Go On. Check if the power plug is correctly connected. Images are not appearing on the monitor. Check the connection between camera and DVR. (Power and Video line) Check the connection beween DVR and monitor. No response when press the PLAY or PAUSE button. Check DVR on Record mode. Alarm recording does not response. Check the alarm connection. Check the alarm setup of menu. Motion Detection recording does not response. Check the Motion Detection in menu. When you catch abnormal picture on play back. In case you set the Quad Mode recording, video signal should be affected by Sensitive Brightness and Unstable signal. For these reasons, picture should be recorded and play back under bad condition. When you catch this case, please change the recording mode to EACH for best condition. Does not playback the picture during the play mode. Check DVR in the end of recorded data. Pan/Tilt/Zoom does not response. Check the data line [RS-485] between DVR and Pan/Tilt/Zoom camera. Check the ID number of the Pan/Tilt/Zoom camera. Select the Model Name in Pan/Tilt setup menu. - If you have checked the above details and still cannot settle the problem, please request for experts help from your dealer.
