Adjusting the intermediate roller in relation to the dampening form roller

is correct, you will see a roller mark of 4 to 5 mm (0.157 to 0.197"). - Wash up the inking unit and dampening system.

Engage dampening form roller to the plate (not in the cylinder gap). No separation between the intermediate roller and the first inking form roller). Use the adjusting screws (fig. 28/1) to adjust the intermediate roller in relation to the dampening form roller. It must be possible to withdraw the strips of paper on DS and OS (fig. 28/2) with the same force of pull. After you have taken out the strips of paper, turn the adjusting screws half a revolution clockwise.

Installing the metering roller

Before installing the metering roller, make sure the adjustment is the same on both DS and OS. To do this adjust the 3rd tooth of the gear segment (fig. 31/3) to the front edge of the worm gear housing (fig. 31/2) with the adjusting worm gear. - Use a fork wrench to lock the adjusting screws in position (fig. 29/1). The contact pressure against the inking form roller is produced by spring force, and has been adjusted in the factory.

Checking the adjustment with roller marks - To check the adjustment of the dampening form roller in relation to the distributor roller, and of the intermediate roller in relation to the dampening form roller with roller nip marks, allow light-coloured ink (e.g. yellow) to flow into the inking unit until the dampening unit has been inked. - Stop the press and inch it until the contact stripes are visible: If the adjustment^etween the dampening form roller and the distributor cylinder and between the piate dampening roller and the intermediate roller

- Mesh the metering roller on the DS with the gear wheel (fig. 30/1), and place it on the OS bearing (fig. 31/1). - Push D towards the DS as far as it will go. - Use a hexagonal spanner (fig. 31/4) to screw the OS roller journal to the bearing.
