INTRODUCTION
An interview is a purposeful discussion between two or more people. It is the most common method of data collection. Interviews are often used to find out attitudes and perception, but they can be source of factual informal also.
MERITS Great flexibility Personal information can be obtained. Information in depth can be obtained.

DEMERITS Expensive method. Time consuming. Introduces systematic errors.

TYPES OF INTERVIEW
Structured interview. Semi-structured interview. Unstructured interview. Non-directive interview.

Guidelines for conducting interviews


Interviewer should be honest, sincere, hardworking, and impartial and must possess the technical competence and necessary practical experience. Interview setting should be without distraction. Interview purpose should be told beforehand. Terms of confidentiality should be told. Attempt to make all questions neutral. Dont lose control of the interview. Use probing techniques. While concluding thank the interviewee for talking to you.
