We're used to seeing enormous fields of 1500 players requiring many rounds of Swiss to sort them out for Day Two. Here in Copenhagen Day One will still need nine full rounds to generate a fair and equitable Top 64 for Sunday play. That's because a very high proportion of this classy field have early-round Byes. Indeed, I've never seen such an empty building for the start of Round One.
