Today Laura Theodore, the Jazzy Vegetarian welcomes jazz singer and board certified family physician Dr. Miki Purnell. Miki Purnell recently made her notable recording debut with Swingin’ to the Sea and she received her Medical Degree at Okayama University Medical School in Japan. She’ll share her tips on healthy eating with some of the top Asian super foods and we’ll play music from her fabulous CD! Dr. Purnell is a board certified Family Practice Physician. She received her Medical Degree at Okayama University Medical School in Japan and earned her Educational Commission For Foreign Medical Graduate permanent certificate. She completed her family practice residency training at University of Hawaii Family Practice residency Program. Dr. Purnell's special interests include food as medicine, regular exercise, stress management, integrative medicine, medical journalism and broadcasting, and therapeutic aspects of music, especially singing. Dr. Purnell is also a singer/voice coach with classical and jazz background. She participated in Kobe Jazz Vocal Queen Contest as a finalist in 2010 and 2012. Her debut album 'Swingin' to the Sea' was recorded with world class jazz giants in 2011 and 2012 and was released in May, 2013 receiving local, national, and international airplays and great reviews from Jazz critiques.
