Description

Part 107 License Renewal
Today's question is about the Part 107 recurrent knowledge test. With FAA's utter lack of enforcement, why should you even bother renewing your Part 107 license? Check out our show to find out WHY!

Our caller, Joe from Nebraska has come up with a question that has resulted in many animated (and sometimes heated) discussions within the drone community. Recently, Joe gave his Part 107 license renewal test. On clearing the test, Joe just received a confirmation on an inconsequential looking piece of paper. Moreover, this piece of paper did not even include an expiration date. FAA's well-known lack of enforcement coupled with this shoddy documentation had Joe wondering if should have renewed his Part 107 license in the first place.

While we are dead against flying unlicensed, FAA's total lack of enforcement is a harsh reality that is hampering the growth of the drone industry. In this show, listeners will learn that 80% of drone pilots are willfully breaking the law by not renewing their Part 107 licenses. Will the emergence of Remote ID bring about greater accountability, and set the house in order? Is there an urgent need for more progressive drone laws?

Towards the end of the show, you will be able to determine why, in spite of the FAA's lack of enforcement, it would be a foolhardy mistake to NOT renew your Part 107. Thanks for the great question, Joe. Fly Safe!
