Description

Can an Unlicensed Drone Pilot Fly Under the Supervision of a 14 CFR Part 107 Licensed Pilot?
In today's show, we discuss IF an unlicensed drone pilot can fly under the supervision of a 14 CFR Part 107 licensed pilot. If yes, what are the dangers of doing so?

Our caller, Adam, is wondering if a 14 CFR Part 107 license is necessary for commercial drone pilots. Adam's peers informed him that he could fly without a drone license, as long as a licensed pilot supervises him. Tempted at the prospect of saving his Part 107 test cost, Adam is wondering if he should take this easy way out.

While Adam is permitted to fly without a drone license, Paul and Rob share why this could prove to be a disastrous decision. Will your drone insurance provider honor your claim if you are flying without a drone license? And, how do you ensure that you are buying the right drone insurance which will provide you adequate coverage?

Listeners will also learn about 14 CFR Part 107 conditions for unlicensed drone pilots flying under the supervision of licensed Part 107 pilots. Thanks for the great question, Adam. Fly safe!
