      Introduction

      This collection of poems reveals parts of my journey through life. I’ve been through the darkness and the light along the way. Both the highs and lows have inspired poems in this book. Some of the darker poems may be triggering but I’ve included them as a way to honor those parts of my journey.

      It is my hope that you will find something you can relate to in this book. I want you to know that you’re not alone in the dark or the light. I hope this collection inspires you as you continue along your path.

      This book of poems is something I’ve dreamed of creating for over a decade. I began writing poetry as a teenager and some of those poems have made their way into this book. It feels incredible to have one of my biggest dreams come true and I hope it inspires you to keep going after your dreams.

      The Shadows We Cast

      There’s unspeakable darkness everywhere

      The truth is hidden from sight

      The misery and despair, the fear and anxiety

      We hide in the shadows

      We think there’s something wrong with anyone who stays in the light

      We push away those who want to help release us from the shadows
