About this ebook
A lot can change over a weekend.
Saturday, Ramsey and Blaire Keifer heard possible grave news.
Sunday, definitive news came—there was no question now.
Monday, Ramsey walked away from a good-paying job he liked and contacted his broker to sell all of their investments.
Blaire is not herself. She cries often. Little things set her off that normally would not.
Their kids, Alanie and Will, are prohibited from watching TV or listening to the radio.
What did they not want their children to see or hear?
Why the peculiar behavior?
Why drop everything to go on vacation?

About the Author

Blood pumped through Ramsey’s and Blaire’s pounding hearts as they made love. Sweat dripped from his face onto her’s as he stared at her beauty. He was close—he could feel it. Her green eyes penetrated his and beyond. She felt close, too. Barely able to breathe, they made sounds indistinguishable between pleasure and pain. Their bodies were under great strain. His heart felt as if it might burst out of his chest and enter her’s in a literal giving of the heart. An involuntary holding in of breaths as he worked popped veins in his forehead and turned his skin red. Beads of her husband’s sweat fell on her face like a beginning rain. She didn’t care. Grunting like animals, they ground on each other. Her toes curled as she whimpered and he growled as they climaxed together.
It hadn’t always happened that way, but this time it had. Euphoric sensations tingled their bodies with shivering and uncontrollable reactions not always felt after sex.
Ramsey collapsed on his wife and she caressed his head and body everywhere her hands could reach. Their sweaty bodies stuck together and the heat they emitted was overwhelming. If the air conditioning was on, they couldn’t tell because it failed to cool them.
For a long time, he kissed her; his lips gripped her’s, thick and sticky.
This didn’t happen all the time. Not with two kids, Alanie, eight, and Will, six, both of whom happened to be spending the night at a friend’s house—a brother and sister of about the same ages, who lived down the street.
Cooling down now, Blaire tried pulling up the covers, but they were too tangled.
Hold on,
Ramsey said. I need a drink. Want one?
Sure, if you’re buying,
she said.
After that, it’s the least I can do.
Pretty cheap if you ask me.
Running water sounded from the attached bathroom then stopped.
You know me,
Ramsey said. I’m into saving a buck. But there was nothing cheap about that.
"No. We need to pawn the kids off on others more often.
