    THE SHY TURTLE

    Most of my life, I have remained here

    Behind this wall and this door and lock

    Hiding in what I carry on my back

    People mistake me for a big green rock.

    The few changes that I’ve ever made

    Is when people would throw me about.

    Skim me across a small little pond.

    Sink to the bottom as I scream and shout.

    I want out! Adventure calls me.

    See things that I’ll never see.

    Relate to people. People just like you.

    Like I thought I never could do.

    Inside this insulated shell.

    I know my own world and I know it well.

    Mind expansion should be lots of fun.

    I’ll take it one human being one by one.

    I’ll venture into a big bed of roses.

    Riddled with weeds, herbicide and thorns.

    I’ll search to find the beautiful things.

    Stretching in the sun early in the morn.

    Too slow … progress evades me.

    Taking my time … what can’t I see.

    Tripping, falling … so very much.

    Never thought that I was so out of touch.

    NOT ON DRUGS…I WAS BORN THIS WAY

    I oftentimes talk to myself and people think I’m insane

    But my bizarre thoughts must
