The Stolen Sword
In the year 1480, in Manzanares Del Real, Spain, people knew they had a super hero, but nobody knew that he lived in a modern cave conditioned with 2018 year technology. Ernesto Knight started to believe he was a hero. There wasn’t somebody who even tried to discuss this with Ernesto Knight. Everybody respected him. They saw him as a hero. The people in the city felt secure and tranquil because he was watching them all the time. He was always prompt when they needed him the most. He combated the crime and the cities were tranquil and secured.
The moon glared over a black shadow crawling into the black pitch, getting closer to its target; to Ernesto Knight’s cave. The black shadow wanted to open the cave’s gate. It moved back and forth in ritual with the gate and as magic art would have it, the gate opened. The black shadow got through and kept dragging to get to the bed, stopped, then managed to climb onto the bed and chill.
I never thought that something like that could never happened to me. Thank God I made it all the way to my bed. Ouch! I can hardly move! My whole body and head hurts as if a thousand men had run over me. It’s a miracle that I’m still alive. I was riding at night. It was dark and then there was that flying trunk and, and.... Ernesto Knight choked and suddenly fainted onto his bed.
Buendroid heard noises and headed over to Ernesto Knight’s room, wondering if he had arrived yet. He glanced at his bed to find him asleep. But Buendroid saw something strange; he had laid down with his helmet, boots and gloves still on. Buendroid wanted to make him comfortable, approaching his bed to take off his boots and helmet and as soon as he saw him closely, Buendroid plunked and started to make circular movements like if he had lost control. Ernesto Knight’s platinum helmet was dented on the part of the face, right by the cheekbone pressing his head. It smashed against Ernesto Knight’s head, so Buendroid went to the workshop area where Ernesto Knight built the armor and he picked up a grinder. He returned with it so his helmet could be removed. He turned on the generator and connected the grinder and carefully started to cut the helmet. Because platinum is a hard material to cut, he had to change the grinder for another one to cut platinum. Twenty minutes passed, and he eventually cut the helmet and removed the helmet. Buendroid had some experience utilizing the tools from helping Ernesto Knight build the armor.
It is hard to believe that platinum can be dented with a hit. It wouldn’t matter the magnitude. Who could do this and why to Ernesto Knight?
Buendroid said, scratching his head after having finished cutting the helmet.
There’s no need for Buendroid to scratch his head, but he did. Well he has feelings after all, even though his body constitution was bronze. He has a great personality for being such a small robot. Only being three-feet tall with a large head; his skinny legs seemed odd supporting its weight. And when he talks, he does it like a person. His eyes and mouth move. His IQ is very high for a robot. But what is a robot doing there with Ernesto Knight in the cave and in the year 1480?
Buendroid is from the year 2065, made and born in the year 2055 and named after the year he was born. He was given to Reina. They were best friends but when she traveled to the past, they met Ernesto Knight. Reina’s intention was to travel to the year 2008. She did, but later after she traveled to the year 1472 and to Spain. She didn’t know where she was until Ernesto Knight told her that the date was January 24 of the year 1472. She believed him because for the home structures everything looked kind of medieval. Ernesto Knight was wearing armor and he had a sword, looking like a knight. She became good friends with him and she told him when and where she was from. He was freaked out. He didn’t understand anything she was talking about...it was a new language for him. He didn’t know the technology he knows now and its discovery made him a super hero. if he didn’t understand technology from the year 2018 he didn’t understand much less technology from the year 2057. The way she traveled and the way she dressed would have someone thinking that she was from another planet, but he didn’t even know that there was another world other than America.
They talked for hours while Buendroid listened. Reina knew how to speak Spanish and English, however, those were the languages in the new world. And Portuguese but she still was learning. She told him that in the future they had to discover the new world; that it was the same world but on the other side of the planet and they named it America... And this discovery was about to happen. In 12 years.
Ernesto Knight didn’t understand a bit about what she was telling him, but he was curious and asked lots of questions. What you mean the new world - America is on the other side of the planet and how it is on the other side? Is it gonna happen soon? In just 12 years? in 1492?
Just what you said in the year 1492 La Reina Isabel, from Spain, is gonna send three ships led by Christopher Columbus to discover the new world.
Hmmm, I didn’t know how America was discovered,
Buendroid said while watching them and hearing the story.
Really Queen Isabel from Spain? How come? And does she know already about that?
He asked curiously.
Nooo, and don’t even think to go and tell her about it.
What, what did I say wrong? Is it something bad?
You didn’t say anything wrong, but it could be catastrophic if somebody found out or listened to our conversations. This is pretty delicate. It can break world cycles and we could disappear. All the people in the American continent could disappear. I will teach you everything and even take you to America but only if you promise me to never ever tell nobody about this. Not even your best friend.
Buendroid Freaked out
The next day, in the morning at the cave, Ernesto Knight in his room, laying on his bed with his helmet still on, his jeans and futuristic shirt made him look skinnier than what he was. He was pretty tall and thin at 6’3 while lying on his bed, but he’s 6’0
tall with brown eyes and black hair. His daily routine includes plenty of exercises and a good diet; mostly grains and fish. His motto is: live to serve others, no matter whom.
People sees him as a super hero, but he doesn’t think that he is a super hero. He just lives by his motto. His sword and his armor, which he designed himself with the most innovative technology available in the year 2018, are very powerful, making him look like a super hero and setting him apart from all knights in the medieval time.
What in the world happened to me last night? Ouch! Oh no. What a terrible headache,
Ernesto Knight said, holding his head with both hands while sitting on his bed.
Buendroid heard Ernesto Knight talking and rushed to see how he was feeling. How are you feeling? What happened? Last night I had to remove your helmet, boots and gloves. I had to remove the helmet with the grinder. It was dented really bad. It was the only way it was able to take your helmet off. Who did this to you?
Buendroid raised his arms.
I have no idea. It seems like whoever did this to me had been planning it with anticipation. Last night, I was knocked unconscious when the trunk hit me. That’s all I remember. I woke up minutes later. I don’t know how much time passed and I could hardly move. I have no clue how I made it back to the cave.
Ernesto Knight said panting, feeling dizzy and with his heart thumping.
Take a rest. You need to recover soon. Well in reality, nothing bad happened to you, thank God. Thanks to God like you say, I don’t say that because I’m a robot. That huge and heavy truck really dented your helmet. If that helmet wasn’t so sturdy, probably you wouldn’t be here. Probably they thought they had killed you, that’s why didn’t bother to comeback and to make sure you were dead. All you got is a blue eye and a headache. Get some sleep. It’s still early for you. It’s only seven in the morning.
Ernesto Knight went back to sleep. And after a couple of hours, he finally woke up. Oh my God, my sword! My sword was stolen last night when I got knocked out by the huge trunk.
The color drained from his face and trudged, approaching Buendroid, his throat clenched. The sword was stolen from me last night when I got hit by the huge trunk as you know. I’m still trying to figure out who in the world wanted to steal my powerful sword,
Ernesto Knight said while his eyes went round.
Buendroid stared at Ernesto Knight,
