In the midst of her heartbreak, Jessica leaves to go home to Pebble Shores for the holidays for the first time in years.

Excerpt from A Coastal Christmas
ALL RIGHT! GOOD MORNING everyone. I hope you’re all having as good of a morning as we are here at...
Jessica started. She paused, waiting for Brett to join her in their usual routine where they said, ‘Wake Up Manhattan’ together. ...here at... Wake Up Manhattan!
she finished alone in a sing-songy voice. Jessica flashed the camera a smile before she darted a quick glance at Brett, who was still sitting stiff as a brick beside her. Now, I hope I’m the first to say it to you all out there... Happy December!
A Christmas jingle played over the loudspeakers and Jessica danced in her seat, bumping elbows with the C.E.O. of the animal shelter who looked like he was enjoying every moment of it. "And boy, is it ever my favorite time of year. The warmth, the cheer, the family, and most importantly, it’s a time where we can focus on others. A time for giving, she said, nodding gravely.
Here today, we have..." Jessica turned her head towards the C.E.O. of the shelter, only to be distracted by Brett standing up beside her.
Jessica,
Brett began, a noticeable warble to his voice. To her utter shock, Brett got down on one knee. Jessica’s eyes widened. This couldn’t possibly be what she thought was happening. All of a sudden, Brett reached into his back pocket, retrieving a black felt box. An awe of whispers erupted from behind the set. Brett cleared his throat and opened up the box, revealing a perfect diamond ring. Jessica blinked back tears. She could barely believe this was happening. All of the dreaming, the hoping, the wishing... Brett remained on one knee in front of her. He had begun sweating from his forehead now too.
Jessica Beaton, will you.... will you...
he stumbled. She smiled and nodded at him for encouragement. Will you... will you...
he trailed off. Jessica waited, a smile plastered on her face. After a moment of silence, Brett stood up. I–I’m sorry,
he muttered before walking off of the set, leaving a stunned and heartbroken Jessica while they were still live and on air.

Chapter One
WINTER IN MANHATTAN brought out the best in people. Jessica Beaton planned to take full advantage of that in her First of December segment, and focus on giving during the holiday season. She expected that this program would get her the best ratings yet. After all, they had only been getting better since she had been promoted to co-host at Wake Up Manhattan, New York’s number-one morning television show, just a year earlier.
Everyone who had the ability to give over the holidays should,
