About this ebook
Hagenspan was a mythic land that once existed in our own world--nearest estimates place it somewhere in the north Atlantic, perhaps during the Middle Ages. Apparently one of the last bastions for creatures from the Old World, its shores were haunted by memories of dwarfs and fairies, kobolds and trolls, giants and dragons. The tales of Hagenspan recount the days when humankind had nearly, but not quite, forgotten those other folk, who were diminishing as it had been decreed. The Hagenspan Chronicles are a bittersweet recounting of the world that once was; sometimes whimsical, sometimes heroic, sometimes heart-rending.
Owan’s Regret: Into the Wilds continues the story of Owan Roarke as he matures and faces struggles normal for his age, as well as those uniquely distressing for the son of the Dragon-Killers, and an unwitting enemy of King Herm the Conqueror. In this tale, Owan and his companion Captain Boole have been sent by Lady Hollie to the mountain retreat of the Amendicarii priests, with the intent that Herm’s evil plans will not be able to reach him in that desolate place. But when the last of the priests dies and Owan is left alone in the mountains, he begins making his way home to Beale’s Keep. Along the way, he encounters a being destined to become his friend in a way he never could have expected.
Robert W. Tompkins
Robert W. Tompkins has been called "fantasy's best kept secret." He is the author of The Hagenspan Chronicles, as well as a couple of non-fiction books. He was born in 1959 in upstate New York, where he has lived most of his life. He wrote over four hundred songs in his youth, and turned to fiction around the beginning of the current century. He pastored a small rural congregation for five years, and is now retired from most things due to early-onset Parkinson's Disease. However, he does continue writing, and is currently beginning work on the tenth book in the Hagenspan series.
