Chapter One: Trials, Trials, And More Trials

You know how it is, everything is going great, then all of a sudden life comes out of left field and delivers a wicked uppercut that leaves you reeling in the dust. We have all been there. One moment life is all sunshine, flowers and kittens. Next thing you know its full of dark clouds, thorns and rats. Hope you like roller coasters cause your on one. When things go suddenly wrong your left wondering what in the world just happened. That's exactly right. The world just happened. Did you know that the world hates you? Think about it. Think back to the time before you came to know Jesus. You probably had fewer problems and less trials. You were part of the world at that time so it loved you because you lived in sin. But when you chose Jesus and he called you out of the world, that's when the world hated you. But keep this in mind, the world hated Jesus first because he pointed out its evils. The truth of this lays in John 15:18-19 If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. That gives us against the world a whole new meaning doesn't it? What exactly does it mean that the world hates you? There is a spiritual war going on and your a part of it. This war is not against flesh and blood. Ephesians 6:12 for our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. It is the evil of this world we fight and it is this same evil that once loved you now hates you because you are not a part of it any longer. When you were a part of the world and living in sin you were separated from God. But now by his grace we are made righteous and are separated from the world.

Does this mean we no longer sin? Of course we still do. We are human and still make mistakes. But thanks to that same saving grace, we are forgiven. Now does that give us the license to freely sin? No, it does not. Romans 6:1-2 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? When we fully accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior with all our mind, heart, soul, and strength, our old self was crucified and died. Just as Jesus was resurrected, we to were given a new life by the grace of God. If we are truly one with Jesus why would we want to sin in the first place? That desire was killed off as well. This is were the world comes in with its
