Chapter 1 Work for the FBI

Inspector Strong just left for a meeting with all the Chiefs. It was not scheduled which means a real fire drill. These exercises come too often It means a lot of wasted work most of the time. Detective Smith as senior gets most of the fire drills.

Inspector Strong sits at the back of the room with his green hat on his lap. Most of the Chiefs are dressed in their fancy blues. He returns in an hour and the entire station knows of the meeting 20 minutes after it starts. But most such meetings do not take that much time. He comes back with his hat in his hand. That implies it was more than just a local meeting. He calls Detective Smith and Rage into his office.

He says as they sit down, There is an important figure coming to Seattle for a speech. The FBI is handling all the details, but they need us to guard some of the area.

Detective Smith says, Ok, they need the dirty work farmed out that is where they cover their tails in case something goes wrong.

This is first that Rage has ever been on such an assignment.

The Inspector hands them papers, Here are the place and time you will show up for your assignment. You will be given some ID. And whatever they feel you will need. The assignments will be given out tomorrow and the actual work will be given to you. I will be some place in their scheme. We are going to bill the Feds, so keep accurate records.

Rage shows up on time but not with Detective Smith. As he is senior, he will be given duty to suit his rank. Rage is with several other junior detectives, of all types. They all show up in a meeting room and broken up into several groups. Each has a handler, they go off to be briefed,
