Penny Holbrook

Born in England, after leaving school, Penny Holbrook trained as a State Registered Nurse and then as a Midwife. She worked for a time in England before moving to Switzerland where she continued to work as a nurse. Later, Penny changed track and trained as a Counsellor, obtaining a diploma in Clinical and Pastoral Counselling plus further diplomas as a Crisis Counsellor and for Major Incident Counselling. It was while Penny was counselling in Switzerland that on 3 separate occasions, families came to her for help with teenage daughters thought to be anorexic. This opened a new dimension in her counselling and Penny trained with the National Centre for Eating Disorders in Esher, Surrey. She now counsels people with eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia nervosa, binge eating and obesity as well as general counselling. CHANGING SHAPE has been put together from Penny's own experience of being ill and being advised by her doctors to lose weight, and of a the lack of counselling to help her change her eating patterns. Plus lots from her training at the NCFED.

    A concept devised

    Not only to change your body weight and size,

    But also to improve your whole body image.

    If you always do what you’ve always done,

    you’ll always get what you always got!!

    This is a very true statement. So, do you want something different from what you have always ended up with?

    ‘Yes!’ you may say, ‘but I don’t know how to.’ Very possibly, but I am pretty sure that you know what it is that you want it is just that you don’t know how to go about it. O.K. – then ask someone for help, so how about starting off with me!

    I am a Counsellor, you could also call me your eating and life-style coach. I can help you to re-style your eating habits and give you your very own healthy eating programme. This will help you to gain a better level of fitness and help you increase your health. The personal colours, style, hair and make-up workshop side of CHANGING SHAPE will help make you look taller and slimmer and help you feel more confident because you start feeling good with yourself and how you look, your body image will improve in leaps and bounds.

    You may not finish at your dream weight or your dream dress size – these are not always reality, but you will be the size, weight and shape that you can live with, feel comfortable with, accept and start to feel happier with your body image.

    I can’t promise to turn you into a goddess

    ( miracles don’t always happen like that ! ) but working together we can improve your body shape and image and in the end you’ll enjoy food without having to worry.

    CHANGING SHAPE can change the eating habits of a lifetime so that new eating patterns can be learnt. This prevents all that yo-yo effect of losing weight and then putting the weight back on again immediately you start eating again.

    Like most people, I’ve had times trying all those fancy diets.

    After the birth of my son I managed to lose weight for a while, but it kept yo-yoing up and down.

    None of the so called diet experts seemed to go beyond calories, traffic-lights, eating points or collecting sins.

    They seemed unaware that I desperately needed someone who understood my eating habits and weight problems and would give me the encouragement and personal support I needed to change my body image and boost my self-esteem.

    CHANGING SHAPE is not just another slimming diet. It has a unique concept of integrating counselling support with an individual weight loss programme tailored to each client, combined with exercise and other aspects concerning appearance and well being.

    The counselling side of CHANGING SHAPE means that each client has continual support the whole way through the programme, from someone who can empathise with how you are feeling at this moment and is able to help you to help yourself feel better.

    Losing weight was only the beginning for me, I needed to overhaul my entire appearance, which meant advice on clothes that would make me look great, a new hairstyle and beautiful make-up.

    Out of my personal experiences and training as an Eating Disorders Counsellor, I have developed CHANGING SHAPE

    It’s a long programme but there are no quick fixes when it comes to re-shaping your body.

    My programme is serious stuff for people seriously interested in doing something to lose weight, improve your shape and more importantly improve your health.

    The eating concepts learnt at CHANGING SHAPE are patterns that can be taken on by the whole family without even knowing it!

    I feel that everyone has the right to look good and the CHANGING SHAPE concept has been devised not only to change body size but also to change appearance, body image and one’s whole outlook.

    Doing that is almost certain to boost self-esteem and who doesn’t want that?
