About this ebook

All believers in Christ would like the idea of accepting the
Lord and then traveling successfully through life to heaven
without trials or tribulation. Satan knows this as well and loves
to tempt us to question Gods love for us because of some of the
situations and trials that we face here in a fallen world.
In fact, some teaching circles have promised that we can avoid
sickness or other issues if we simply have enough faith. This
paradigm couldnt be farther from the truth.
In God is Up to Something, Pastor Taylor along with Yolanda describes a recent challenge of sickness that affected
the entire family and explains how God worked through it.

    Foreword

Physical health and wellness is one of the greatest concerns of life. Quite possibly, nothing is more stressful than a malfunction of the physical body, especially when it could lead to a debilitating or terminal condition. Serious health issues can cause anxiety or trepidation for even the most positive individual, and certainly for one who is typically healthy, but suddenly finds himself facing a crisis.

The authors provide a very heartfelt, personal, and candid testimony of the struggles and disappointments of personal trial, as well as a constructive look at the victories and joys experienced during the dark night. What you are about to read will likely touch you in a very personal way, as each of us can identify with either our own suffering, or that of a friend or companion. If you have experienced the storm, you will appreciate the integrity and insight with which this sensitive topic is addressed, and should find it to be a genuine source of encouragement.

The subject matter is inspiring, and offers both personal experience and Scriptural perspective, demonstrating God’s faithfulness, and providing hope to anyone walking through the storms of life.

    Dr. Curtis Wood

    Vintage Bible College

    Dear Child of God,

In the very beginning of time God desired for man to live in harmony with his helpmate and enjoy the wonderful creation that had been put before him. This existence would have been fruitful and fulfilling. However, Satan was very much opposed to this way of life and moved in to destroy mankind through the contamination of sin. Once sin was unleashed, the entire universe was corrupted.

I believe that man was created in the image of God but that image became marred due to the sin nature. Because of man’s decisions, our world is one where tragedies strike from every direction and there is instability. God has desired to restore what once existed and has made a way for a new relationship through the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could just accept Christ as our personal savior, then live a long productive life without any issues or trials? The answer could be maybe or maybe not. Life is a twisting mesh of decisions, uncertainties, disappointments and triumphs. The reality of life in this world is that it is uncertain.

Regardless, there are great opportunities for us to experience God’s presence even in the most difficult times. I have had to personally witness God during some very difficult challenges in my life. Even though, each challenge may not have concluded as I would have wished, it was clear that God was using each opportunity to make me and others better disciples.

I believe that every life experience is a turning point in one direction or the other. God has touched many of us when we didn’t realize it. God has so much knowledge and wisdom; and it’s sometimes funny to look back and see certain events in your life just to realize that you now understand why God allowed things to happen the way they did.

My life was running along in a very enjoyable manner. My work career was going well and God seemed to just supernaturally be placing favor in my life. I had been promoted several times by the City of Winston-Salem and was now the Sanitation Director. This was quite an accomplishment and I was very thankful that God had allowed it to happen. The opportunity would give me a chance to do more financially for my family as well as implement some of my plans for success in the future.

Things were going extremely well on the ministry front. God had called me into the pulpit ministry in the year 2000 and I had received many opportunities to minister to various churches throughout the area. I eventually was called to Pastor and had been installed at Rising Star Baptist Church in Eden, North Carolina in the fall of 2004. Rising Star was my first ministry and one that would never be forgotten.

The Church was very exciting to me. It was filled with new people and a chance for me to help them rise to a new level in Christ. The truth of the matter was that they were going to help me grow as well because of the experiences and relationships that were soon to develop. The Church rallied behind me and we were able to accomplish several major goals.

We replaced our entire heating and air system. Carpet was redone in the sanctuary and floors were refinished. We replaced our sound system and were able to place some new programs in the ministry including Boy and Girl Scouts. All these things needed to be done and I felt urgency by God to get them done so that He could do some things He wanted to do.

I remembered how joyful I was when the Scouts went to the parade in Draper and I saw them march for the first time. I was very thankful for what God was doing. The Church was able to purchase a new bus for trips and souls were being saved. We were able to purchase land for future expansion and God worked every transaction out in a way that made us know He was with us. These were very good times.

Times are still good but we must realize as believers that we won’t always have just good times. We have to go through some storms. One reason I am writing this little short book is to give you just a small view of what I have discovered about God working behind the scenes and how He walks with you through every stage of life.

I want to use my story to encourage others about the storms in the lives of the believers and let them know that God does not desert them when trouble comes. He actually sticks with you and sees you through until the end. I want to let others know that the God that blessed them in the good times is the same God that will stand with them in the difficult times.

For someone who may be going through a trial or tribulation, lift up your head and know that your redemption is near!!! Rest assured that God is always up to something!

    Pastor Johnnie F. Taylor

    Introduction

Growing up, I experienced the typical problems and issues that are associated with teenagers. I thought I knew everything. I didn’t always obey, and I wanted to do things that may not have been exactly what I needed to be doing. However, I always had that conviction through the Holy Spirit that would keep me from going as far as I would have. God was always speaking to me about things that I did. He would tell me You know that you shouldn’t have done that and He would also let me know that He loved me even though I wasn’t perfect.

At the age of thirteen, I started playing the piano for the church
