Relax you are not going crazy. Anxiety is not harmful.
It really does not matter what form of anxiety you are suffering with, this book is designed to help you.
Phobias or fear of places/things like: shops, cinemas, trains stations, being alone, crowds, family or school gatherings/meetings, college, flying, spiders, birds, people, small/big places, heights, lifts, water, snakes, fish, bees, the dark and going out are all very common. Anxiety is treatable.
This book will inform and support you as you deal with these feelings and anything you have a fear of. It will also help you deal with fear of the feeling itself.
This book will not change who you are, but it will help you find your true, calmer, happier self again.
Yes it is a permanent fix.
Understanding anxiety will allow you to see more clearly, looking at life from a positive, logical, and realistic viewpoint.
Life will feel calmer and more organised.
Working gently at your own personal pace, you will soon feel quite comfortably normal again.
I will be here every step of the way through this book.
Before we start
To introduce myself I am Jeannie Philpott born in 1955 and lived in the West Country all my life. I am a qualified C.P.C.A.B. Counsellor having worked with all ages and specialised with young people including those dealing with bereavement, anxiety, phobias and anger. Whilst I am now a proud Grandmother to seven grandchildren, when I was in my early 20’s I too suffered from overwhelming anxiety. I discovered this method really works and surprisingly quickly. In my book I have used my personal experience and involved other therapies I found useful to support my counselling. Alongside the knowledge and understanding I have gained through my personal experience and Counselling. I have incorporated my study of art, psychology, child psychology, my personal research of nutrients, aromatherapy, colour and subliminal music to create my book. My aim was to collect my learning, research and experience together and produce a little book that would be comforting as well as easy to read and understand.
I really trust in this method and hope my knowledge and experience will be valuable to you in your recovery. I wish you a wonderful journey of discovery and healing. I honestly believe you will find considerable change whatever your age, sex, race or religion when you read this book. I hope you will feel more comfortable every day dealing with your personal anxiety now and in the future. It does not really matter how anxiety is affecting you now; this method is universal and works with the cause as well as the symptoms.
I will not be trying to impress you with my knowledge of the English vocabulary, Psychology, Counselling or the jargon that goes with it. I simply want to help you become free from the horrid feelings that may be hampering your happiness in life, at the moment and in the years to come.
I will be avoiding all references to different conditions, labels, therapies, methods and styles of Counselling, and diagnoses. I will avoid endless letters of abbreviation that can leave us bamboozled, confused and even more anxious, as we try to fit our symptoms to different phobias, obsessions and compulsions. I feel it really does not matter what we label these conditions as anxiety seems to create and heighten symptoms. So if anxiety is making you feel uncomfortable then it follows that dealing with it could make you feel better, whatever you have been diagnosed with or however your anxiety is affecting you.
Many phobias may be completely cured with gentle understanding and desensitisation to the phobia. Gradually introducing the thing you are most afraid of while using this therapy could help you conquer your fear phobia. I used to be spider phobic and after learning about anxiety gradually introduced tiny spiders onto my hand, then thought about them as afraid of me. I realised I had the power to take their life and how vulnerable they were. Now I usually help them, big or small, into a container and escort them outside to a friendly bush. I could not have done that until I learnt how anxiety works and how to deal with it in a positive way. I was really scared of flying and seemed on one long panic attack, which subsided and came flooding back throughout the journey. One day I went with a friend who had flown micro light planes and who really loved the exhilaration of lift off. She was so excited saying here we go… I just love this bit it is sooo amazing, look out the windows it’s so wonderful…
, that it rubbed off on me. Before I had been afraid to look out the
