The purpose of this book is to glorify and honor God. It is about a life that has been filled with pain, sorrow, struggles, and tragic loss of several family members. In the midst of these there also have been miracles from God. This book describes a life of endurance and dependence on Gods strength during times of weakness. It is also about a life spent not only trusting in God but proving His love for us, His promises, and faithfulness in times of despair. There is a display of unconditional love, both from a spouse and from God. May each person who reads this book find Gods blessing in their own life.
If there is anyone who has lost hope, feels despair and/or looking for help, maybe this book can be a help in finding hope, peace, and rest in the only place possible, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

    INTRODUCTION

My name is Linda Cooley and this is my story. I would like to express my gratitude to those of you who have purchased and/or reading it. My prayer and purpose for writing this book is to glorify and honor God while hopefully being a help and encouragement to those who are going through heartaches and trials. I have tried to be as honest and objective as I can be in telling it only including the facts. I was once told I portray myself as being a victim sometimes, which certainly is not my intention. There are also some personal issues and struggles that my family, like all families, have that I have chosen to not include since they are not relevant to the purpose of this book. My story contains much suffering, heartaches, and tragedies, and is written from my perspective of them and of God’s faithfulness and help to me through them. Every member of my family has suffered in different ways and to different degrees during these heartaches and tragedies.

    DEDICATION

I want to dedicate this book to my family who I love very much and want to thank my husband and daughter for their support and encouragement in writing it. Morris and Marcie approved, encouraged, and gave me their full support in this endeavor. I finished my story (or so I thought) in March of 2013. Little did I know that God had a different end to it.

I also want to dedicate it to so many friends over the years who have gave me a shoulder to cry on or just listened as I vented. Listening is such a special gift. Thank you for your encouragement and time, each of you has a special place in my heart and this book. I believe God brought each of you into my life and I pray His blessings upon you.

A special dedication and thank you to my pastor Bro. Jim and his wife Carlene (who went home to be with her Lord and Savior during this writing) for hours of counsel, prayers, support, and availability when I needed you. I appreciate you more than I can express. Also to the rest of my church family I am grateful for you, your prayers and support. I love and treasure all of you very much, you are my family. I am eternally grateful for you.

Thanks especially go to Esther Myhan, without you this book would not have been possible. I believe God brought you into my life to help me accomplish His plan for me and so my life could be of help to someone else. Thank you for your friendship and encouragement.

Last but not least I want to thank Katherine; you are a special friend who has stuck closer than a brother as they say, during the hardest times of my life. I love you as my sister and you certainly are in Christ.

    CHAPTER 1

It was almost Thanksgiving 2012 and Morris had been having problems with his pain being worse for some time. It seem to take more and more medicine and he kept running out. I should have recognized there was a problem long before that but I hadn’t or maybe I didn’t want to admit it. I had to take him to the ER the night before Thanksgiving but they didn’t help much. My heart ached for him and I was so frustrated because I couldn’t help or know what to do. I cried out to God for His help and guidance and asked Him what purpose my life had been. It seemed it was just a series of heartache and pain and I could see no good that had come from it. I had the thought come to me write your story, and I wondered what good that would do or who would want to read about such a depressing life but nevertheless I decided to pray about it. As it so happened I was working with a Christian lady that had wrote and published several books so I asked her opinion. She thought it was a good idea and offered to help me, coincidence? I don’t think so, God always has a plan for us and I believe this was His plan for me. I asked God if it was His will for me to write my story then put the desire in my heart and give me His words to say. I began to write.

For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. James 4:14b

Life happens so quickly. It seems to go by at a slower pace when you are young and looking forward to a special event and/or Christmas. Then we grow older and get busy with day to day living and responsibilities. Before we know it, we wake up middle aged and closer to retirement age. This sometimes prompts us to start looking back over our life and asking ourselves questions like where did it go, what do I have to show for it, what measures if our life has been meaningful, successful or failure? Is it wealth, power, fame, possessions, family, or what we have done for others? Was it just a series of heartaches and struggling from one trial to another? What was the purpose in them? What legacy will we leave and how will we be remembered? These questions bombard my thoughts as I reflect over my own life. Some of the reasons for this may be having yet another trial (they never seem to end) and another birthday rapidly approaching. I suppose the best place to begin my story would be at the beginning. Even the beginning of my life was not what it should have been, not that I was aware of it then.

I was born December 6, 1957 to an unwed mother who was struggling with her own life issues. She had lost her own mom as a small child and grew up in the homes of relatives after her dad remarried. As far as my birth father is concerned, his name and information on my birth certificate
