    Magician Amzar

This story is about the Magician Amzar a 900 year old, true Magician from the early days, people living in mud huts used the Magician for magical events, whole nations were held in a state of enchantment, with constant festivals, music, dancing and story telling of great Magicians and their magic, true magic is for your own happiness and the benefit of everyone around you.

If you indulge in it you will soon glimpse the depth and purpose of magic, to bring out that natural but long-forgotten state of existence, the golden age of magic. Demons good and bad, for once you are enthroned in it’s believe, you are forever enchanted.

To come in contact with true magic it will put aside grievances and visualise your true surroundings as a type of paradise.

Nowadays of course, everything seems different, but this world is as magical as ever.

Once you start seeing it the more the magic will engulf you and the stronger it will grip you.

Amzar over the last 900 years he lived and travelled the breast and seas of this planet casting spells bringing good over evil, but Amzar is a lonely sole wishing for one thing, to find utopia, the one and only place to live.

Over the years Amzar from the early days of long flowing robes and large top hats and white beards, has come to the modem day and to see him you would take him for any other 45 year old.

The year is 2009 in London west end, Amzar has decided to do something different, and is going to open a book shop with a difference, for it is not just books that will enchant you but his magical events that will unfold when you venture into the shop.

Of course with Amzar being a Magician, it’s not long before all the final details are ironed out. With contacts and help from the property agents, Amzar is offered a shop in the heart of London.

All the final details sorted and Amzar has the keys for the shop, its 9am Monday morning and he stands at the front door of the shop he has just leased for 25 years he turns the key, and he is saying to himself.

This is it my own business after 900 years it’s time I slowed down.

He steps into the shop and to welcome him is rubbish on the floor and dust everywhere, in a corner standing upright is the biggest rat you have ever seen, Amzar sees it and straight away looks at it and says.

Ha my new assistant, Amzar suddenly chants verse.

dopily dibble, or is it Amzar drippy dopily Whatever, he points his walking stick at the rat and before his eyes there in a flash and standing there in his birthday suit is a Youngman of about 19, he stands there with his hands out in front of him, and his hands folded down so he still looks rat like, he starts to look up and down himself and touching himself, looks at Amzar and shuffles his nose up and down imitating a rat.

Come now Youngman lets dress you Amzar puns, then he points his stick at the youth, and before the youth could do anything Amzar with verse and a flash of magic, and then in front of him stands there fully dressed, the lad turns and runs to the hole where he came from, stands scratches his head and can not comprehends how tall he had come.

Come now Youngman you’re not a rat anymore, but a 19 year old hansom Youngman let me see,

Amzar rubbing his chin and looking at the boy.

Yes we will call you Brian, so let’s be hearing you speak, the young lad turns and in a pitiful voice asks.

Please sir don’t kill me, my whole family are waiting back there for me, well this brings a chuckle from Amzar.

"You’re my new assistant from now on, so please start to act like a human, it’s not everyday that a rat gets the chance to get himself out of the gutter.

It’s not long and Amzar has him cleaning the shop out, upstairs Amzar sets up his lab, flashing is stick there then there, appearing into the room all he needs for a good Magician, books of knowledge, jars full of bats wings toads legs and all things needed for a Magician surroundings, including the crystal ball, mixing jars, the lab complete Amzar stands back to admire all his hard work.

That’s my lab complete all that is left is to fit the shop out with books,

Then he hears banging downstairs, so he hurriedly retreats downstairs to see what the commotion was, he enters the room and there is Brian with his sweeping brush handle stuck up a rat hole and Brian shouting down the hole.

Don’t you dear laugh at me.?

Brian what are you up to, asks Amzar, well Brian feels silly he was only trying to bash some of his friends that were laughing at him sweeping the floor.

Come now Brian come and stand by my side and watch me fill the shop with books.

Amzar puts his arm round Brian and tells him to watch, he throws his walking stick into the middle of the room, it stands upright and is spinning around, and he tells it to fulfil the surrounding area with shelf’s full of books, of all different knowledge’s and interests, Brian stands there enchanted as the stick starts to spin round and round with all sorts of colours of the rainbow coming from it, and appearing along the walls there were shelf’s appearing full of books with in a few moments all the shop was full of books.

Done Amzar is ready for business; tomorrow we will open the doors for the first customers. Brian is mesmerized by all the books and things.

Come Brian lets go upstairs and have something to eat.

They both go up and in front of a large open fire they settle down for the evening, the daylight fading and the flickering of the flames reflection was dancing all-round the walls of the room.

What sign shell we erect outside for the customers Brian, Brian sitting at the feet of Amzar thinks for awhile and suddenly out of the blue comes up with a verse that even Amzar was amazed.

What about a sign saying what you see, is what you get,

Amzar thinks for a moment and pats Brian on the head.

What you see is what you get, well done Brian so be it tomorrow the sign goes up outside, they sit looking into the flickering flames and all is peaceful and tranquil, then Brian asks Amzar to tell him all about himself and where he came from.

Brian my son it would take weeks to go through it all but to put your mind at rest I will show you some of my life, Amzar clicks his fingers and into the room floating comes his crystal ball, it hovers in front of the fire and Amzar starts the story with the ball showing what Amzar was saying.

The year was 1109 deep in the forest of what was known as Magical Cove lived the pageant of Magicians and wizards, outside of this you had dragons monsters and evil, myself and my brothers were devoted to defeat evil and for good to prevail, out in the nation of old Britain there lived common folk living simple life’s in thatched huts together with their animals, all there energy and skills was devoted to the structures of the land, they knew nothing of prisons or palaces but were just happy and secure, and had no needs for other things, if they were threatened they would call us to help, my first 200 years involved wondering the hills and dales of Great Britain, then came Kings and castles and the human population grew out of hand, wars killings evil was spreading it’s spells and nations were being torn apart, for the cove of Magicians and wizards this was a trying time for us, even today there is still the spell of evil that we are still trying to break, but someday the Golden Age will return and Nations once more will not need anything to secure there future.

Amzar looks down at Brian and he sees that he had fallen fast asleep at the story he was telling him, he picks him up and carry’s him to the bedroom and covers him up and just before he leaves the room, Amzar in a quiet voice thank s him for all the hard work he did that day, Amzar clicks his fingers and the light goes off and he gently and slowly closes the door.

Amsar goes down to the book shop and at the back of the shop he stands and starts to chant ancient rhymes, he seems to be blessing a certain spot, and with his cane bangs it on the floor so hard that it seemed to give off a beam of sprinkling of colour full of shooting stars and then it turns misty, and before your eyes standing there a telephone both, Amzar looks round it and goes and stands inside he picks up the receiver and a voice asks him to dial the number of the book they require.

Perfect just what I wanted, when they want a book they will have a surprise in store, Amzar closes the door to the both and goes and retires to bed with the biggest smile on his face, and he his rubbing his hands and saying to himself.

    Roll on tomorrow.

Tuesday morning at 6 30 am Brian wiping the sleep from his eyes and coming round from his sleep, he lays there and still the affects of turning from rat to human still not quiet sunk in for he still lays there and is twitching his nose, he looks at himself and jumps out off bed.

I’m still human my master Amzar, I must see if he requires anything, Brian jumps out of bed and gets dressed and goes and opens the bedroom door of Amzar’s room, he sees him sleeping and goes downstairs to prepare a surprise breakfast for him, he no more then goes outside and raids the dustbins for stale food puts it on a tray and with a glass of water goes hurriedly back up the stairs to feed Amzar, into the bedroom Brian walks and plonks the tray on the bed and at the same time he is saying.

Wake up Amzar I’ve brought you breakfast.

Amzar starts to awaken from his sleep and the first thing he notices is the smell of something vile in the bedroom, well if you could have seen is face at the site of the food that had been brought him, he realises that Brian had brought him the tray, he replaces the lid on the tray and chants a few spells and reopens the tray and there before him is a full English breakfast, well Amzar looks at the breakfast and just when Brian is leaving the room he thanks him on such a lovely breakfast and he will see him downstairs for the opening.

Downstairs and Brian finds the sign that is to be erected outside, he goes and puts the sign up before Amzar is down, the whole shop is ready for the grand opening and Brian stands at the door looking out to see if anyone is waiting, then down comes Amzar and tells Brian to open the door well soon as Brian opened the door there is the sound of bells, Brian looks up to the top of the door and there is the source of the sound of the bells, he turns to Amzar and smiles.

Amzar takes his place behind the counter and Brian stands by him, after an hour Brian asks Amzar why they had not had any customers.

Patience my son they will come, and by the way Brian the sign looks superb.

Meanwhile in a roof top garden in the centre of London Jim Davis is socking up the rays on the one and only days he seemed to get off from work, the sun is beating down and the temperature is well into the 80f, by 10 am, the sound of the birds and the odd wood pigeon sounding it’s coo, makes the day seem to drag, it’s one of those occasional hot summer days that seem to come round every now and then, Jim is tossing and turning on his sun longer when his wife notices, and comes out to have a word with him.

Jim why don’t you go down to that new book shop that opened today and get yourself something to occupy your mind while you are sun bathing dear.

Well Jim turns round and tells his wife that she is right and that he will go down and sees if they have anything of interest. Jim is a keen cowboy enthusiast and once a month attends the London cowboy and Indian club gathering, Jim is well known to be the fastest draw in London, all Jim does is done a shirt and in his shorts goes and gets into his car and drives down to the new book shop that is wife Rita add suggested, Jim parks up and the first thing that hits him is the new sign.

What you see is what you get, we will see, about that, I bet they don’t have anything on the Wild West.

Jim opens the door to the shop and the bells rings out, and there to greet him is Amzar.

Good morning Sir my name is Mr Amzar how we may help you.

I’m looking for anything to do with the Wild West, looking at your books I’m not seeing the books that I wont, it doesn’t look like you can help me, Jim looking all-round rubbing his chin.

Jim turns and is about to leave the shop when Amzar from under his counter pulls out a book in tilted forever a Cowboy.

Excuse me Sir is this you were looking for.

Amzar holding up the book, Jim turns and looks straight at the book and he is mesmerized at seeing the book.

Gee that looks interesting, Jim saying as he walked back to the counter,

I will take it, how much is it.?

Then Amzar tells him this book is for show only, and that the books are kept upstairs for storage, that’s the ones that are for sale, and if he would like to perches the book he would have to take this reverence number to the phone both in the back of the shop and order the book by telling the person on the other end, and then they will send the book you require down for you to purchase.

Strange way to go on, Jim looking at Amzar as he takes the card with the reference number on it.

Well Sir all the books are already packed upstairs so when you get them they are in mint condition and not dusted over by standing on the shelf’s in the shop.

Amzar smiles and bows, Jim looks at the card with the numbers on and goes to the back of the shop where the telephone both was.

He steps inside picks up the receiver and dials the number, he hears the dialling tone then a lady’s voice speaks softly and quietly asking, please give me your 6 digit number on you card please, with this Jim reels of the numbers 6,5,8,3,2,1, then a voice thanks him, he stands there for about a minute with the phone still up to his ear, then down the line he hears girls singing and the sound of glasses clinking together, he takes the phone away from his ear, then he notices that the sound now is from behind him, he turns and through the window in the both he is no longer looking into the shop but a Western town saloon.

What the hell is going on, then he looks down and in stead of him having his shorts on he is all dressed in black with a white waist coat on and by his side he is packing two guns, and in white leather a gun holster, He swings open the doors to the both and everyone in the bar turn round to see who it was, the music stops and the girls on stage stop dancing, well Jim has seen this numerous times in films and just chuckles to himself, he shuts the door to the both and starts to walk towards the bar and as he walks he can hear the jingling of his spurs on his boots, well Jim is total captivated in the roll that he completely forgets about the book shop. The music starts up again and the girls start to dance again, at the bar he calls the barman over and asks for a whisky, then he notices something.

H’a barman aren’t you that book keeper, the barman shrugs his shoulders at what Jim had said, turns to get his drink and on his face he has a smile for sure enough it was Amzar.

Jim looks round at all the cowboys in the saloon and he is saying to himself that all his mates back in the cowboy and Indian club would be envious of him at being in a real saloon, Jim is soaking all the atmosphere up, when suddenly the saloon doors swing open with a bang and into the doorway steps one mean ugly looking cowboy called Black-eyed Bill, so named for he is always leaving his victims with you guessed, black eyes, has soon as the doors bang open everybody turns and sees him, well the whole bar turns a deafly silence and the cowboys standing round Jim move to one side.

Jim turns and sees him and smiles, well this incites Black-eyed Bill and he shouts.

Whom do you think you’re smiling at, you look like you have just fallen of a Christmas tree, well Jim did not like his attitude and tells him to.

Go back outside and kiss the backend of your horse.

Well that’s torn it Black-eyed Bill steps forward and stops about ten yards from Jim and tells him to go for his gun, Jim stands there and with hands just hovering over the butt of his guns tells Black-eyed Bill that he should go for his first with him being an old tart, well that does it Black-eyed Bill goes for his gun and before he even put his hand on his gun Jim has both his guns out and firers twice shooting Black-eyes holsters off, well Black-eyed Bill just stands there and is shaking in his boots at what had happened, Jim blows down the barrels of his guns swings them round his finger and plops them back into his holster.

Turns back to the bar and shouts out whisky all round barman, well this brought the biggest cheer and they all come to join Jim at the bar.

    Chapter Two

Meanwhile back at the shop Brian is sitting at the counter day dreaming when into the shop walks this well to-do city gent, and asks Brian if he had any books on International banking, and financial dealings, well Brian just looks at him unfoundedly.

Well Youngman have you, then Amzar walks round the corner and asks the city gent to come this way, Amzar looks at Brian and shakes his head at him, all Brian does his scratch his head and lift his shoulders.

Amzar asks the city gent is the book to help you, to do with banking Sir, well the city gent s face droops and he starts to confide to Amzar.

Well really sir it is to help me, you see I work for one of London’s top banking originations and if I don’t pull this deal of with this American firm, who I have to entertain this American client this afternoon, and I just have to get him to sign up with us, or I’m for the high jump, everything in life is up against me, I’ve just lost my parents and my wife left me for another, ohm I’m sorry you don’t want to hear my troubles forgive me my name is Paul Ward.

Not at all Sir, remember life s little set backs are a spring board for better things, your parents are on a higher plain, looking down on you, it’s up to you to walk up that diving board and jump back into the pool of life, let me think yes I’ve just the book for you, the city gent’s eyes light up at what Amzar tolled him.

How to win over business clients take this card with the numbers 774389, to the both at the back of the shop and they will send the book down for you.

Paul goes to the back of the shop and enters the both and dials the number he enters the number and suddenly he hears the sound of deafening shouting all shouting buy sell, he turns round and looks through the window and he is seeing dealings going on in Wall street New York, he steps out of the both and starts to wonder round looking at all the shoving and bumping of the men on the floor all holding up pieces of paper, then he notices one new Yorker standing against a wall and he is holding his chest, well Paul sees him and goes up and asks if he was alright.

No Sir I’ve this pain in my chest, the last thing the man sees is Paul’s face as he collapses onto the floor with a heart attack, well Paul is straight down and listening for a heart beat, he puts his finger onto the mans neck and he can not feel a pulse, straight away he shouts for someone to call an ambulance, he lays the man on his back and starts to give him the kiss of life and massages his chest.

He does this till the medics come and the man starts to breath again, the medics run up to where Paul was and they thank him on a fine job he had done, well all of Wall Street came to a holt and they are all clapping him, well Paul feels that what ever happens that afternoon with the meeting with the American guy he just does not carer a dam, he turns and goes back into the both and once again dials the number on the card, someone on the other end thanks him and tells him his book will drop down the shoot under the phone, and sure enough he hears the book drop, opens the chute and picks his book up comes out of the both and the difference in his stride and the way he looks tells you that something magical had happened to him in the both.

He starts to walk out and Amzar asks him is everything alright Sir, well Paul looks at Amzar then points to the both and he just stands there with the biggest smile on his face, then he approaches Amzar out stretches his hand and shakes Amzars hand with vigour, thanking him on a wonderful book, he turns and then passes Brian the same thing he out stretches his hand and shakes Brian’s hand with vigour, well poor old Brian thought he had done something wrong and when the city gent walked out of the shop with a brisk walk, shutting the door behind him Brian looking at his hand asks Amzar if he had done anything wrong.

No my son just made someone very happy, come Brian lets go up stairs for something to eat.

Amzar puts the sign on the door telling any would be customers that they were at lunch and that they will be open at 2pm, Amzar settles down in his chair and Brian suddenly remembers Jim.

What about the man that came in first thing Amzar, Brian looking a little concerned, Amzar smiles and tells Brian all will be fine I’ll show you, he says a little magic spell clicks his fingers and into the room comes the crystal ball it comes up to Amzar and starts hovering near him, Amzar asks the crystal ball to show them Jim Davis, the crystal ball mists up then it clears and there up to his eyeholes in pleasure is Jim all dressed up in his cowboys suit and sitting on, one of the whitest horses you have ever seen ridding the range with other cowboys.

My my that man seems to have fount His utopia, it’s a pity he has to be back by 5pm.

    Whys that Amzar, asks Brian?

Well we close at 4pm, is wife will be wondering where he as gone if we leave him there.

Brian holds his hand and suddenly asks what about the city gent what will happen to him this afternoon.

Look and behold the future, with this Amzar casts a magic spell and there is Paul sitting in his office waiting for his American client,

Brian draws closer to the crystal ball, and then into the room walks this American guy walks up to Paul and just as he is going to shake his hand he suddenly puts down his hand and looks Paul straight in the eye.

My God you’re that guy, who saved my life last year in Wall Street.

Instead of shaking his hand he puts his arms around Paul and is hugging him so tight and thanking his so much for saving his life, my wife and my grand children owe you so much, well the American is in tears crying on Paul’s shoulder, all Paul does is stand there not knowing what to say he knew that he did something like it that morning, but last year, he tells the American that it was nothing.

The America tells Paul that his name was Guy Dillinger, and the Billion dollar contract is his so long as you are the main man in New York, well Paul can not believe it this morning he was so down that he felt like ending it, know he is to be the head of the New York office, and a new life ahead of him.

He looks out of the window and looking at him from the crystal ball is Amzar and Brian and they see Paul saying to them.

From the bottom of my heart I thank you.

Amzar looks at his watch and the time is coming up to 2pm, he clicks his fingers and the crystal ball goes back to where it came from.

Come Brian customers await us, going down they can hear someone banging on the front door, Brian tells Amzar he will go and open the door, outside there is this leather clad yob and his girlfriend banging on the door and shouting.

Come on its gone 2, open up, Brian opens the door and the pair barge in, they look at Brian and tell him.

Out of the way rat face, well Brian is taken back at what they had said and stands with his back to the wall, the pair go round the shelf’s and the books they don’t like just throw them onto the floor well poor old Brian is going round after them picking the books up after them, they see this and throw more books onto the floor, Amzar sees this and comes straight up to them.

Good afternoon I’m Mr Amzar, and you might be, the youth looks at him and he says.

I’m slasher Ray and this is bash-um Dolly what’s it to you,

Then into the shop comes a little frail old lady and she starts to look round well slasher Ray and Bash-um Dolly go about looking at the books again and they are walking that fast that they knock the little old lady over and they don’t bat an eyelid, well this infuriates Amzar who goes to help the little old lady up, he apologises to her and then shouts the pair over to him.

You just knocked this poor old lady over haven’t you any manners.

She should not be out if she keeps falling over like that.

I’ve just the book for you, Amzar produces the book from behind him and it is titled, All the Worlds Worst Crimes, slasher sees it and says he wants it, well Amzar gives him the ticket and tells him where to go, slasher takes the card and looks at the number 666611.

Nice number come on Dolly, they walk up to the both and slasher kicks open the door and steps in, and dials the number, there is no tone on the phone and he starts bashing the hand set, then he hears someone shouting what you up to old gets, well slasher hears it and turns round and opens the door and it is dark and he gets the shock of his life for standing there is himself and his girl friend Dolly, he looks at dolly standing next to him and she looks about 70 years old, well he gasps, and at the same time Dolly looks at him and she gasps to as he looks about 70 years old to.

They step out of the both and Basher can not believe it, he has a walking stick and Dolly is holding onto his arm, they start to walk off down the street saying to themselves what as happened and they completely forgot about the other two that were following them, then from behind they hear young slasher telling them to give him their money, well old slasher tells them to leave them alone can’t you see were old.

Well the young slasher spins the old one round and puts his hand into his pocket and takes all his money, the old slasher raises his walking stick and the young one pushes him to the ground laughing at him, and the same for the old Dolly she to is pushed to the ground by the young one, they are left in the gutter while the young ones go of laughing.

They sit there and are saying to each other why do they deserve this, then the phone rings and they help each other up and go back into the both and answer the phone, they turn and look at each other and they are back to them self’s well they sheepishly come out of the both and they see the little old lady they pushed and the little old lady suddenly sees them and this makes her drop her books on the floor, well the difference a few moments make Slasher Ray and Bash-um Dolly go hurriedly to her assistance and pick up her books and are very apologetic to her and ask if there was anything they could do for her.

    Thank you kindly but no.

Amzar comes over and asks if everything was alright, slasher Ray tells him that everything was fine Sir thank you, and they turn and leave the shop holding hands.

    Chapter Three

The day is coming to an end, Amzar sees the little old lady out and bolts the door, and then Brian reminds him of Jim who is out West.

O’ yes thank you Brian, Amzar goes to the both and dials up the number to where Jim was, out on the range Jim was sitting round the camp fire with the other cowboys eating their supper under one of the most starry skies that Jim had ever seen, one cowboy was strumming the guitar when from behind him Jim hears the phone and just like any human curiosity gets the better and he gets up to answer it, and as soon he picks up the receiver he is back in the book shop, he stands there for a moment and then there is a clunk and he sees a book titled Forever a Cowboy, he looks down and he is back in his shorts, he comes out of the both and he does not mention anything in case they think he is mad.

Have you your book Sir, asks Amzar.

Yes thank you, boy I’ll be back for more.

Thank you Sir and goodnight. Brian closes the door and bolts it, Amzar looks at Brian and tells him that it has been a rewarding first day, they both go upstairs, and Amzar flops into his chair, Brian comes over and tells Amzar that he will make the supper, well Amzar jumps out of his seat and tells Brian to sit down and he will prepare it, all the time Amzar is thinking of that morning when Brian brought him is breakfast.

Amzar looks at Brian sitting in the living room waiting for something to eat so Amzar opens a book on cooking and starts to chant spells out of the book, in a silent voice so Brian will not hear him.

Swirl and speed food of high make the supper of Royal delight, Amzar claps his hand, and behold a meal fit for a King.

Brian suppers ready, Brian comes into the kitchen and the expression on his face said it all.

You have not made this have you Amzar, well Amzar also has that look on his face.

Well you know, A little help here and there, well Brian tuts and tells him.

Never mind lets tuck in, they both sit and are filling their faces with every delight you can imaging, roast beef chicken potatoes greens, by the way greens not being eaten by Brian, all the deserts under the sun and loads of chocolate ice cream, Brian is scoffing this and that and he tells Amzar that this is the best meal he has ever had, well after he sits there and loosens the buttons on his trousers, and is telling Amzar that he could not eat anything more.

Come now Brian the night is not began yet.
