    Dedication

To God, my Rock and my salvation.

To my husband, Kim. Thank you for your unyielding help, support, and love.

To our children, Ellen, Nick, and Scott. What wonderful and amazing adults you are!

To our grandchildren, Dylan, Drew, Faith, Carter, and Evan and grandbabies yet to come.

To my parents, Bill and Phyllis Reiter. One day Mom sent a huge box of my newsletter writings marked Judy’s Book. They arrived with quite a thud. There was no such project in the works at the time. Thank you, Mom and Dad. You are both quite amazing.

    Introduction

Have you ever wanted to get into the Bible and had no earthly sense of how to start? It is an ancient book bound together in some strange order! Who puts books together in a compilation and then indexes them in the order they appear? The Bible does. Seriously, if prayer were only for certain folks, our hearts would not burn for personal connection to God through Jesus Christ. If God had wanted the Bible to stay on a shelf unopened and unattainable, God would not have provided it. And if we were not created to actually do the work of God, the Bible would not demand it. GRACE2U, a Three-Strand Cord is here to help! It begins with prayer.

To open to the Word of God requires a prayerful start, and the first section of the book is filled with prayers to uplift, invite, and inspire you. Prayer is the first strand of strength for a rich and full spiritual journey. Every prayer begins with a reminder of Christ’s promise to be with us always.

The second strand of the book is an entire section of devotions. Each devotion starts with a prayer to the Holy Spirit for help in understanding. The devotion strand provides escort and company into the amazing, mystical, unparalleled connection to real life, that Bible we so richly need to enhance, challenge, and keep our spiritual journey on God’s track. It does so in practical, easy-to-take-hold-of ways that inspire and affirm the reader.

I have been in pastoral ministry in a local church for twenty years, and practical life-application through mystical revelation is one powerful way God uses me. I experienced my call to ordained ministry in the fifth grade. A vision of my adult self preaching from the pulpit at church complete with priestly collar and all! Later, when I was a junior in high school, the world shifted again. We could wear jeans to worship! It felt so utterly strange and perfect. The first time I attended worship in the same clothes I could have chosen for the basketball game Friday night was convicting and profound. I was praying about this to God during worship (this strange, humbling realization that no church costume was required for acceptability before the Lord) when something very cosmic aligned. The Holy Spirit opened my mind to a clear and new connection of the very ancient texts in complete and understandable focus with everyday life. I will never forget the moment. It changed me unalterably.

And so we come to the third strand of the book, Christian practice. Whether you wait until the end of your reading to enter into this section or work on it while reading the first two parts is entirely up to you. But live into the work of prayer and the living Word of God through Christian practice. Here you will find simple acts of mercy. You will be guided into important and helpful biblical readings. You will be challenged to live into this amazing thing experienced as faith in God as made known through Jesus Christ.

Ever wanted to grow in your Christian walk and needed a jump-start? This book is here to help. This book is for you because God loves you and has some certain and specific things in this world that only you can do to God’s most complete delight. Grace is God’s unearned, unparalleled, unwavering love for you. Live into it! Let your blessing translate into a blessing to the world.
