Glass Moon over Images of Sand: A Collection of Brief Narratives
By Edel Romay
()
About this ebook
This book speaks to its readers with real fiction of edited memories. This collection of short narratives exposes readers to contemplate yesterday as a dream. Romay describes it as something like what some writers experience within that encounter with absence when they internalize themselves into a sheet of blank paper in the present progressive digital world. Unquestionably, that yesterday that once was today is suspended in that labyrinth of memory.
After all, this narrative subscribes to the premise that Reality only exists in language. The reason is that the reality of this work manifests itself if readers continue to read itoffering more than one reading.

I owe thanks to my good friend and colleague in letters, poet and author Roberto Perezdiaz¹ who skillfully translated my work. I am also grateful to another long-time friend April McMahon² for her humorous insights and inspired editing. And with the same enthusiasm thanks are due to Marsha Polovets³ for her meticulous reading more careful than mine.
1. He has studied at the University of California at Berkeley, El Colegio México, in Mexico City and Antioch University. Roberto Perezdiaz is a retired FCCI (Federally Certified Court Interpreter) after 26 plus years working in the US District Court in El Paso, Texas.
2. April McMahon holds an M.A. in English and French Literature. She has also studied other languages and literatures, including Spanish, German, Russian, Arabic and Sanskrit.
3. Marsha S. Polovets, holds a B.A. in Political Economy from the University of California, Berkeley. She was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Marsha speaks Russian and Spanish and is an avid reader of Spanish literature. Her senior thesis explored the identity of Jewish Argentine women.
AUTHOR’S NOTE,
not as an excuse, maybe as an attempt to put some ideas in their place. Because the reality of this narrative is genuine emotion, that later will blossom as true fiction about certain edited memories. In other words, the reality that you once lived intensely, now, seen from another angle, probably approaches a collage of brief narratives. For example, in those fleeting moments of happiness, or those unending periods of bitterness, there was both love and un-love. You had women that love you and you left and there were those women that you loved and also left you. However, they all, to some degree, some more some less, left you here and there with a secret code phrase that you now have begun to decipher. That she is intelligent and attractive…goes without saying. You have always been captivated by at least those two qualities in women and if she is also sensitive, loving and a little crazy… nirvana! You have fallen in her trap. That is probably the reason why even today you still ask yourself the same question: What came first, the word or the image? Accordingly, from 1980 to 1999, I wrote brief narratives that I left forgotten in my desk drawer. In 2004 I had the opportunity to travel to Spain; I took my writings thinking that somehow I could publish them. However, the pleasure of traveling was more seductive and I travel much. This collection was dropped into the drawer. On
