About this ebook

Thumb through this book and youll see its not like the other books on this shelf. Pious and dreamy are not foremost in Bobs style. The balloons were the photographers idea.
Bob has been creating his weekly Good News for 12 years and publishing them on the web for over 10 years.
Now, selected daily works are available in this book, on paper, in your hands, so you can hold it close to your heart.
Youll find a table of contents and index, in case youre feeling studious, and a format not limited to a period of time. Good for your leap years, too.
Once a hard-drinking salesman on the road, Bob and God gathered his strength to develop his Christian business ethic, to pursue athletics, and to marry June Holloway and raise a family.
Did he wake up one day, slim, muscular, alcohol-free, with a happy spouse and home? Ha, ha, ha.
Sit down with Bob and find your strength in a daily helping of Spinach. Its good for you.

Author

Robert Pickering Sr.

Biography Born August 21, 1939. Graduated from Northeastern University, 1963, Boston with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Worked in engineering from 1962 through 1972 when he went into sales engineering and training and is still active part time. Father of three daughters and one son; grandfather of nine. Spiritually he divides his life into three sections described briefly below as, learning, hiding and serving. Learning from age 6 through 17, Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. (Philippians 3:3-5) During these years he was a spoiled youngster, a two sport athlete and straight A student blinded by all the praise and successes. Selfish ambition and vain conceit was an apt description of his life during these years. The hiding years, age 18 through 29, For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice." (James 3:16) This decade was the author's lost years, a lost child of the 50s. Teenage marriage, two children, driven to get educated, selfish to the nth degree is a good summary. Also, he hid his struggles in the darkness of alcohol. The serving years, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17) This period started with a divorce and being a single parent of two daughters age 5 & 7; it was his life-long low. Recovery started in 1968 with a new marriage and the start of a life of spiritual growth and service that has been a great ride. The author gives credit to a motley crew consisting of a fine English lady who saw something in a divorced alcoholic, a Jewish Lawyer who was very stern regarding his lifestyle and a Methodist minister. He has been blessed by them all. Throughout his life when he was down and he reached out for the Lord and he came through, “God is my Spinach”. There is a connection between faith and success.
