Chapter 1
Rising of the Flames
SKU-000533783_TEXT.pdfIt seemed like an ordinary Friday. I was walking home from school with a nice, warm, summer breeze on my face. Bright green leaves on the trees were dancing in the wind.
On my back, I was carrying a heavy load of schoolwork in my light gray book bag. I was wearing a black T—shirt, bearing the words Never give up and never give in
in big white letters. It made me stand out and make me feel proud. I was wearing black and white sweat pants. My hair is thick and as black as a marker. I have dark eyes like a brown crayon. My dark purple glasses make me look smarter. I am thin you can see more bones than meat, but I am well built and I have good upper and lower body strength.
As I approached my house, I walked down the driveway, past the light green lawn, and into my two-story red brick house with its light brown oak door. I opened the door and walked into my living room. A 10 foot tall robot with heavy silver body armor and glowing red eyes stands before me with a giant sliver ray gun locked on to me.
I jumped just as it fired with a giant kaboom! An exploded as loud as a building being blown to the ground. It made a hole the size of a crater in the house.
Furiously, I got out my knife, but then I stupidly realized that it wouldn’t pierce the robot’s armor so I got a chair to slam against him, then I thought that was dumb, so I ran out of the house where there were a lot of people who had gathered because they heard the explosion. Since there were many people around I thought that the robot would chase someone else. I turned around and saw it was still chasing me. Everyone was looking but nobody helped.
Suddenly, there was a weird sound; it sounded like a high pitch fire alarm. After the sound stopped, I looked around and saw that something strange was happening to all the people around me. They were turning into robots suddenly metal started surrounding the town’s people’s body. The sound changed everyone who heard it clearly into robots, but it didn’t affect me because I was listening to my favorite Pretty Ricky song very loudly. Then I remember I hate Pretty Ricky and threw my iPod to the ground smashing it into a million tiny pieces.
01101000110!
The robots shouted.
Suddenly, a warm hand grabs me and a voice of an angel screamed. Hurry we need to get out of here!
I turned around to see that she was a beautiful blond haired girl about my age. She has fair skin, and has light gray eyes. She was wearing a light blue sleeveless shirt with navy blue jeans. She is heavier than me, and is a little short.
What’s going on?
I demanded.
The whole town in which you live have been turned into robots,
the girls answered.
Who are you?
I asked.
My name is Sara Lake and what you see before you is a robot race that is called, ‘The Iron Steal.’ They go to other worlds and take what they need and blow up the planet,
What we need is a hero that can save our world and that is you,
Me?! Sorry, but you got the wrong person here. How do you expect me to save the world?
The story says that a hero with super powers—
What powers? I don’t have any powers!
Not yet but there is a way you can get powers,
Sara said.
How can I?
Isn’t going to be easy, but have you ever heard of a being called the Phoenix?
Sara asked.
The Phoenix what the heck, I thought it was just a myth!
In your world, yes, it’s a myth, but in my world, it is real as it can be,
Wow! You are serious aren’t you?
Yes, I am telling you the truth,
Sara alleged.
Well then, if what you’re saying is true, then alright I’ll be your hero, but how do we get there?
We can get there by my portal watch,
It looked like a normal watch all black but with lots of buttons. When she pushed a button on her watch, we disappeared in a white flash of light.
We were able to get to Sara’s world, but it was a wasteland like desert sand blowing in the wind and no sign of life for miles only the burning blaze of the sun.
What happened here?
This is what the Iron Steel has done to my home,
Sara replied. This place was once a nice world; with flowers that cover the whole land, water so pure you can drink from it. The land covered in lush light green fields and mountains so tall you can almost touch the sky.
It was good, but all that changed when the Iron Steel came. Their Boss Doom Metal took everyone and everything I cared!" Sara howled into the wind.
Hey no need to worry I’ll save them and I know we just met but you still have me. Oh, I forgot to tell you my name is Abubakar Garba, but since my name is hard to say, I also go by my nickname Abu as well,
I alleged.
Thank you Abub—
Sara was trying to say.
Trust me just call me Abu it’s a lot easier,
I interrupted her.
Heh—heh—okay Abu it is,
Sara giggled.
You see laughter always make you feel better when you are down, crying about it won’t do anything you are going to have to be strong for them,
I said.
