A Personal note to my readers:

    Dedication

I want to dedicate this book to the fallen soldiers whose lives paved the way to freedoms that we as a people so richly enjoy.

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

    Psalms 91:1, 2

King James Version of the Bible

    Preface

A Black woman can say she relates to and understands how a Black man feels but in reality the truth is that no woman can truly understand me as a Southern Black man, having experienced heart-wrenching pain at having to endure watching my wife and family going without basic necessities. I was forced to watch my superiors amicably receive everything handed to them, while the same actions for my duty to my country they had arrogantly dismissed my blood sweat and tears. I earned nothing more than a Good job, boy leading to a realization of depression and ultimately to forgiveness for which I begin this book.

    Henry Parham

Jesus places enormous emphasis on human-to-human forgiveness, detailing the parable of the unforgiving slave enclosed by the Divine demand to forgive.

    Matthews: Chapter 18, verses 21-35.

King James Version of the Bible

    Chapter 1

    (In the beginning)

I have had a burning desire to write this book for the past 35 years; wanting and needing to say the things that will lift people from despair and give them hope. With all of my trials I still have learned to always put God first and trust in Him.

Praying is a sincere desire of the heart whether it is in silence or uttered that you must do to find peace and your connection with the Lord. What God has given you no person can take away from you.

Always live your life in a way that pleases God and you will be successful. Jesus came for the lost and he bled and died for us all. If you do not have anything that you’re willing to die for then you’re already dead.

Often you are told to turn the other cheek and practice forgiveness. I have finally, years later, allowed my heart to overlook the malfeasant injustice that had once made me a bitter man.

On one of the most important days of my life, back in 1951 or here about is when I met my true love, my darling Zara. Now it wasn’t easy dealing with such a beautiful creature that God had placed in front of me. I was hanging out with my friends and being a virgin was something that as a young boy I did not want to admit too, so I wanted to act normal but inside I was filled with butterflies.

About four other friends and myself were walking down the road and she was in the yard yelling Hey Henry with the prettiest smile that could light up a cloudy day and my heart.

You see things were more proper back then and she had no business hanging out in the yard calling out my name.

    Now Zara
