About this series

After devoting eighteen years of his life to the US Navy, Petty Officer First Class Shane Parker is struggling with the very real possibility of becoming unnecessary. If he doesn't make Chief Petty Officer before his twenty—and it doesn't seem likely that he will—he'll be retired from active service and placed on the Fleet Reserve list until his mooring lines are officially cut forever. While it would all be very honorable and ceremonial, he simply wasn't civilian material.

Before even swearing in, Julian Brand knew he wasn't cut out to be a soldier, but refusing wasn't an option. Generations of Brand men made careers in the military and the expectation of every Brand son was to follow in those prestigious footsteps. Though the prospect of being rolled back hindered his every step, he survived Battle Stations and did his time. Six years out of uniform and Julian still struggles to find familial acceptance as he fights to live life on his terms.

On the surface, they couldn't be more different, but when Jared Ramos calls, neither are capable of refusing. If they can find a way to work together, they might be able to save a friend and each other in the process.

In the second grade, Garrison Douglas saved Micah Stills from the bully trying to steal his lunch money, creating a bond that would last a lifetime. Or so Micah thought. Ten years later, Micah's best friend and first love is an enlisted Marine. Steady, strong, dependable Garrison has always been his hero and Micah will do whatever it takes to be the supportive partner left behind. In contrast to his sturdy Marine, Micah's slighter form is a vibrant canvas from the tips of his color-streaked hair to the graphic ink adorning his body. Sure, people judge his book by its cover, but he knows who he is and more importantly, Garrison loves the whole of him. Garrison thought he was strong enough to do his duty for his country and come out unscathed. Nothing could have prepared him for the things he would see or do in the heat of battle. Every mission takes away another part of him and he fears the man he has become. How can he trust that, if his mind plays tricks on him, he won't strike out at the man he loves the most? While Garrison is struggling with his demons overseas, Micah has dedicated his time to military support groups. The exposure to the harsh realities the soldiers and their families face long after they return home is often heartbreaking, but he sees it as necessary. Like Garrison, he also wonders what his lover has become. Unlike Garrison, he'll embrace the changes as long as he comes home alive. Just the idea of physically hurting Micah sickens Garrison and he breaks up with him to protect him. Micah is devastated, but his feelings never falter. Now Garrison is coming home for good and Micah is determined that he'll receive a hero's welcome. With the help of veteran soldier and new friend, Jared Ramos, Micah arranges a proper homecoming. The only glitch is that he's not supposed to be there to see it, but the temptation proves too much. Armed with a ridiculously over-the-top outfit and plenty of places to hide, Micah is able to see for himself that Garrison is whole and healthy. When Micah's plan goes awry, Garrison is there to save him once again. Face to face after five silent years, the love is still there, but can Micah convince Garrison that they're stronger together? Or will Garrison walk away forever?

Like many readers, I've dreamed of being a writer most of my life. Thanks to social media, I was able to follow my favorite authors and hoped to glean some words of wisdom as I pounded out half-formed ideas with alarming regularity. - Great writers read voraciously. - Great writers write every day. It doesn't matter if the muse is on break or the words are crap, write anyway. The first I had down pat. The second...there are days it's like pulling teeth, but I put words down. Even if I know I'm going to delete them later, there's always the chance that there might be a bloom among the weeds. With three series in the works and a full schedule of releases planned for the next two years, it's been amazing to have made this dream my reality. I am a firm believer in marriage equality, love at first sight, power dynamics, and happily ever after. I'm a lover of strong secondary characters and series filled with families—biological or chosen. All are themes you'll find throughout my books.
