The ketogenic diet, which is also sometimes referred to as the keto diet, is a low-carbohydrate high-fat (LCHF) diet that causes the body to burn fat at an accelerated rate. It is a very effective weight-loss diet with a lot of health advantages. When the diet is strictly followed, it’ll raise blood ketone levels, which also provide an alternative source of fuel for the body. Your body typically runs on glucose, which it metabolizes from the food that you simply eat. However, if your body runs out of a glucose fuel supply, it’ll begin burning fat. It does this by transforming fat into ketone bodies, which can readily be used as fuel. The ketogenic diet is based on the simple principle that if you eat LCHF foods for longer than a couple of days, your body will eventually start burning more fat than glucose; this state is simply known as ketosis, & it’s why the ketogenic diet is very effective for losing fat.

When you consume foods that are high in carbohydrates, the body simply produces glucose, or sugar, & insulin, which is used to properly digest & store the sugar. With high-carb foods, your body doesn't use all the glucose at one time; some of it just gets stored in deposits on your thighs, belly, etc, which is why your body weight increases & you eventually gain fat on an unhealthy diet.

Insulin: The hormone which is responsible for transporting glucose through the blood into the cells for storage & energy.

Glucose: The word glucose is basically derived from the Greek word for sweet. It is a form of sugar that is simply used by the body for energy. As glucose is transported through the blood stream to the cells, it is also referred to as blood sugar or blood glucose.

There are different types of ketogenic diets; they are as follows:

Standard Ketogenic Diet: This is the as the name goes the standard LCHF diet.

Targeted Ketogenic Diet: This is simply a modification of the standard keto diet that involves just consuming small amounts of fast-digesting carbohydrates before a proper workout. The strict ketogenic diet may not perhaps be compatible with high-intensity cardio workouts, which basically rely on carbohydrate stores to produce sufficient energy; therefore, adding small amounts of carbs before a workout will help you power enough through a demanding session.

Cyclical Ketogenic Diet: This version simply involves consuming an excessive amount of carbs over
