    Video Game Ninjas 3 - J. B. O'Neil

    Introduction

A hahahaha, you pathetic little ant! Memdark said. Run, if you can! Run, ant, before you get squashed like the rest of your fellow bugs. Can you do it? Are you strong enough, ninja?

Matt would have had time to fire back with his own taunt, but he couldn’t do that now, and I wasn’t as fast as him. I had to focus on dodging. Memdark’s corny villain act definitely wasn’t helping, but it was a lot less dangerous than the club that was about to take my head off.

I ducked, and the giant spiked club passed over my head like a storm. I looked up, and was almost too late to jump aside as the club smashed down on top of me. I never knew something as big as a two-headed ogre could be so fast, too. It was already swatting at me with its other hand, trying to turn me into a concrete angel on the pavement.

I back flipped, then back flipped again, trying to make some space between the relentless monster and me. I was breathing hard, something I didn’t even know was possible for a video game ninja. I was reaching my limit, and my friends had already hit theirs. They needed me to help them. If we were going to get out of this alive, I had to think of something fast.

The roaring ogre was right in front of me again, swinging its club up for another try at whack-a-ninja. I was out of time.

Maybe if I take a quick ninja-second to think, I can calm down and figure a way out of this.

Today started like any good Saturday: by playing video games.

    Chapter 1: Dragon Fantasy Quest

    1 Dragon Fantasy Quest

Orlando is one of my best friends, but he is also probably the nerdiest kid I know. His favorite video games are all about dragons and dungeons, and magic and monsters. Orlando’s favorite game of all time, is Dragon Fantasy Quest, an epic 300 hour-long role-playing game. I have my own copy that I play pretty regularly, and I figure I’ll be done with it sometime before I go to college. Orlando had been playing the game in every second of his
