Together all three of their lives intertwine and complete chaos erupts threating to shatter friendships and endanger lives. This is a fresh new twist on how women handle themselves in the hood.

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

RD Davis—First off, I have to thank my Father above, for giving me the foresight, gift and love to write. DJ Cole, without you Diva Imagination would still only be a dream in my head. You are my partner in crime and I love you more than words could ever say. To my Momma (Shirley L. Davis), there is no way possible to thank you for all you have done for me and my hell raisers. No one knows the lengths you have gone for us. I love you so much and I pray that I am half the mother and woman you are. You are one of a kind and I would not trade you for the world. Amber my oldest hell raiser, you encouraged me more than you know. You kept DJ and Lexi in line while I sat at my computer working on my dream. I will make it up to you, I promise. D.J., my middle hell raiser, I am so proud of you. You are the man. Lexi, you have been here before. You are an old lady in a little girl’s body. The three of you have so much promise. Never let anyone tell you what you cannot do. You do hold the key! Follow your heart and it will lead you to your dreams. Sena, my best friend, what can I say? When I was at the end of my rope and wanted to let go, you made me hold on! For that, I will always be grateful. You and Tim made me believe in love. My family and friends, if I tried to name you all, I’m sure I would leave someone out. You all know who you are. Thanks for encouraging me to follow my dreams. The last person I have to thank is my better half E.J. Thank you for loving me, flaws and all and holding me UP when I was at the bottom. You are one of a kind and I love you!

    CHAPTER 1

    The Reunion

M elissa is at peace now. Desiree’ whispers to Leza as she gently grasps her hand and they embrace. Thank you for coming, Leza utters softly. Tearfully the two of them walk toward the exit. Before they reach the glass double doors, they are approached by a tall thin funeral director. He asks Leza, Are you sure you only want the graveside service? I’m sure, she replies, she wipes her eyes and exits the building. Silently they hold hands and stroll to Leza’s car. Desiree’ closes the door and leans in the window to hug Leza once more. I’ll be over around eleven-fifteen to pick you up. Leza nods and without a word drives away.

Melissa was Leza’s aunt. Growing up, Leza’s mother was always running the streets and Melissa took care of her. They were only seven years apart, so I guess you could say they kinda grew up together. They were more like sisters. Leza had some troubles in the past, but is turning her life around, thanks to Melissa. Leza recently acquired a small bed and breakfast in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania; that Melissa was helping her manage. Shortly after they opened, Melissa found out she had leukemia. Leza got her the best care possible, but after months of intense chemotherapy, sadly Melissa lost her battle.

Leza stands thumbing though her closet deciding on a black dress. She catches a grimace and admires herself in the full-length mirror. Accept for a couple stretch marks, I still look good, she thinks to herself. Leza is 5'2 about one-fifty. Her bronze complexion matches perfectly with her short jet-black funky hair cut.

The phone rings and she yells to her daughter Alana to answer it. She comes in with her small hand covering the receiver and making a goofy face, It’s some lady named Samantha Rose. With a pleased look, Leza takes the phone and shoos Alana out the room. Sam! Leza exclaims, I haven’t heard from you in years!

I know; it’s sad it had to be like.

    Melissa would’ve wanted you here.

I was heartbroken when I heard bout her passing.

Well, she had leukemia and her body rejected the donor’s bone marrow. There was nothing that could be done.

I’m sad to hear that. I called to get the time and address. I don’t wanna be late.

I am staying at Melissa’s house on Evergreen, but you can just meet us at the gravesite. Desiree’s coming here to get me and Alana.

Leza gives Sam the funeral information; they talk a few more minutes then end the call. Leza continues to thumb through her closet and finally decides on a simple black dress with pearls. She hangs the dress on a hook next to the closet door then heads to Alana’s room to lay her cloths out. Once the pair decide on a dress for her, they spend the next two hours eating popcorn and watching T.V. before going to bed.

Desiree’ pulls into the driveway in a top-of-the-line black Lexus GX 470 SUV. She’s a little early and of course Leza’s not ready. She blows the horn and Alana runs out to tell her to come in. She turns off the engine, grabs her purse and follows Alana into the house. Alana grabs Desiree’s hand dragging her down the hall to her bedroom. They dash right past Leza’s room. She has a new teddy bear she wants Desiree’ to see. Leza finally steps around the corner and asks if they’re having fun. Desiree’ smiles and puts the bear down. Get your sweater Lana, says Leza. Alana takes a sweater out her closet and walks toward her mom. She grasps her
