    You won't get theory here...just practical information. Things to do immediately. Take the time to do the end of chapter exercises...I started to skip them but I am glad I took the time to write them down and think about them. A very good book to spur you to act.

    There are plenty of books on mental toughness and the like. But THIS one distinguishes itself by presenting the topics in a straight forward and easy to understand manner. Moreover, there is no fluff or research mumbo jumbo. It offers what YOU can do to acquire mental toughness in a step by step way. I recommend it!

Mental toughness. It can compensate for many things such as lack of natural ability, smarts or skill. It’s also your best defense against quitting when facing challenging situations. In business, it is what helps make the best decisions possible when others are full of fear and indecisiveness. In sports, it’s what athletes rely on to make it through the last mile. It is often what makes the difference between success and failure.

Guts, willpower and mental toughness. It’s all very similar, no matter what name you call it. The important question is how do we become mentally tough? Is it something you are born with or can it be developed?

While it is true that most mentally strong people are born with personality traits that help them maintain focus and determination despite facing difficulties and challenging situations, it is possible to develop a high degree of mental fortitude by controlling our actions and developing new habits that will serve as a foundation for it. We can develop mental toughness just as we can improve our patience, concentration or become better educated.

Some elite endurance athletes have a popular saying: There’s nothing new on race day. Meaning that if you’re well prepared for everything, there’s nothing that will surprise you.
