    You know how to produce an eBook manuscript using Microsoft Word to do it. Now, can you produce an ePub suitable for Kindle and non-Kindle e-readers.

    Do you want to give up control over how your eBook is formatted? I suspect, you don’t want that. You want to control how the book is formatted.

    In my previous book in this series I suggested Draft2Digital and Reedsy as the better Word to eBook converters. Of the two, Reedsy only supports the fiction style of eBook not the nonfiction style. This may change in the future.

    To keep the eBook styling, formatting, and control options under your control requires knowing how to make an ePub eBook.

    You can learn to do that.

    With success you may decide to farm that task out to others because your skills are needed elsewhere in your business. You must learn to write and produce eBooks for the market place. The formatting quality of an eBook brands it. You must control your brand.

      Introduction

      THE SIGIL V0.9.5 SOFTWARE I am using is for version two and three Epubs. You will use Sigil to generate version two Epubs. You want to create an Epub or Mobi Ebook from a written Word manuscript. You decided not to pay someone to format and create your Ebook. The fear of failure, in doing something new for the first time lingers. A normal response for anyone who creates. You overcome fear by performing the task that causes it. Thank you for buying this book. It is structured in a manner not to waste your time and effort.

      Your question of whether this book gives you the information to succeed in creating an Epub Ebook must be answered? Yes, it does and requires effort on your part. Do you have a written fiction or nonfiction manuscript? This book requires one. Next, do you want to be an author and self-publish an Ebook? I hope so; because the desire and need can keep you going after your goal or dream.

      A wise old mentor once told me, You’re what you think. Without goals, even dreams, you’re going nowhere. Nowhere, in this case, is anywhere the universe drops you off. You made no choices, and because of those decisions, anything is what you deserve drifting through life. What keeps you from writing as an author or publishing your work? You do it, by quitting or refusing to do the tasks needed. Do not be that person!

      Your Rational Reasons May Be:

      ●  You must have control over everything.

      ●  Knowledge, you do not know how or why to format your Ebook.

      ●  Economics, you do not have the money to pay someone to do it.

      ●  There is only you to do the work.

      Base Requirements:

      USE WORD, OPEN OFFICE, or Libre Office word processor to format the manuscript. You will need a PC, browser, and Internet connection to do your work.

      The Author’s Environment:

      1.  Windows 10, operating system

      2.  Microsoft Word 2016 and OpenOffice

      3.  Paint.Net my image, graphics, and display tool.

      4.  Gimp a seldom-used graphics tool.

      5.  Adobe Digital Edition used for reading Epub Ebooks.

      6.  Kindle Previewer used for viewing and creating Mobi Ebooks.

      7.  Scrivener my authoring tool

      8.  Sigil version 0.9.5, my Epub creator tool and (some minimal HTML & CSS) skill.

      9.  Ginger,  Grammarly and Hemingway’s writing software tools that improve your writing skills and proofread, to some extent, your writing.

      EXCEPT FOR WINDOWS 10 and Word, I selected FREE software used for Ebook production.

      It would be nice if the manuscript was proofread, spell-checked, and grammar checked before you convert it into an Ebook. You, as an author, may not know anything about Ebook formatting, and self-publishing. I have published Ebooks for Amazon as well as Epub vendors. I formatted mostly Ebooks for myself, but sometimes for a fee from other authors. This book shows you the closed environment of Sigil that allows you to develop the formatting skills needed.

      Book Purpose:

      USE THE BOOK TO DEVELOP Ebook formatting skills that you need for your own book manuscript. You will learn how to exploit Sigil features to create an Ebook. The bulk of your Ebook skills will come from hands-on training. The training is not in the military boot camp style. Please do not waste time butting your head over tasks or skills you do not know yet. Just ask for help. You do not have to do everything by yourself! I mentor readers not browbeat them because; I know something they do not. There was a time I know nothing about Ebooks and self-publishing too. Your end results? A manuscript, now an Epub Ebook ready to be self-published. Your writing dreams become a treasured reality of the present.
