Charles said, returning to the room and returning to his chair.
Craig didn’t bother answering. He knew the question had been in jest since of course nothing had happened while Charles had been gone.
What took you so long?
Craig asked.
Charles just shrugged. His bathroom habits weren’t any of Craig’s business, for one thing; but in truth, he had stretched the break out as long as possible, buying himself a candy bar from the vending machine and eating it slowly while staring out a window.
These breaks were necessary not because their job was difficult, but because it was so mind-numbingly boring.
