- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Hard going. About to go on a "geology walk", with very sketchy knowledge of the subject, it seemed a good idea to read something in advance. This was not really the right book. Worthy and even a few light touches here and there, despite many protestations of this being for the layman and how things were being simplified. I sank like a stone in a morass of technical terms. Nonetheless, by taking a skimming approach and homing in on places that I know, I did get something of an overview - which was my intention. McKirdy et al do a much better intro job in "Land of Mountain & Flood"
