About this ebook

When Emily Masterson wakes up in a strange bed with a dead man, she does the only thing she can think to do. She calls the one man who can help her. A man who betrayed her years ago—the only man she’s ever loved.

Gideon Sloan might be in the business of helping people, he just never thought one of them would be Emily. After using all his resources to help her, he swears never to see her again, but a second attempt on her life leaves him racing against a clock to keep her alive.

Even as the killer circles closer, passion reignites, but secrets from the past threaten to destroy their fragile truce. Only together can they find answers and—if they survive—a second chance at love.

Fade to Gray is the first book in the Triad series about a group of three men who started a business as celebrity fixers. In the first story Emily Masterson wakes up in a strange hotel room covered in blood next to a dead US Senator. She immediately calls Gideon Sloan, her former lover, to help her decide what to do. Gideon and his friends help Emily escape the hotel until she can make some sense of what has happened to her. Over the course of the next few days, Emily survives several attempts on her life and finds out that the betrayal at Gideon's hand ten years before was actually manufactured by her father to get Gideon out of her life. Several suspects are traced throughout the story, and there is a pretty big twist at the end, but anybody who had been paying attention to the clues could figure out who the culprit was well before the end of the story.
However, this is still a pretty good "waking up in a dead man's bed" story with depth of emotion developed throughout the book.
