Introduction
This book isn’t going to be like the other books you’ve read about trying to get healthy by losing weight and exercising. At least it’s not only going to be about that. This book is going to appeal to you by getting to the bottom of why you’re where you are in the first place. Certainly, some of this is within your control. After all, we could all exercise more and eat healthier.
But some of it is due to your body and the chemical changes that affect how you feel. Insulin resistance is one of those things that we will be discussing.
The good news about this is that if you do decide to change your diet and your exercise habits, you can affect your body in a positive way and healthy way.
Most of us already know logically what we need to do in order to get better, but it isn’t logic that rules our actions. It’s our mindset. If we can’t get our mindset under control, and we don’t know what we’re doing wrong in order to make it better, then nothing will change. It’s all about how we feel a certain way about ourselves. It doesn’t matter how much education we have on the subject, if our mindset isn’t focused we’re not going to change anything. So, it’s important to dig deep and discover the motives behind why you make the decisions that you do, and why you are where you are right now.
This isn’t about blaming yourself or anyone else for your present situation. It’s about finding out exactly what you need to do so that you can do better.
As we get older, our bodies change and we can no longer do some of the things that we could do as when we were 20 years younger. However, many times we give up on pushing our bodies and forget that it can do more than what we’re asking of it. It’s natural to feel more tired at the end of the day when you’re older, but there are things you can do to feel like your younger self again.
Do you remember being younger and wanting to work out? Everything you did, every social circle you were in motivated you to improve yourself so that you could impress others. Not entirely, of course but looking and feeling better made you more attractive to other people.
That’s quite a motivator to keep an active lifestyle.
