      I think this one was the my least favourite book of the series. Compared to the rest of the series, it felt slow, dragged on, and not very hard to expect what would happen next.

      Welcome back to Morganville. A small town in Texas ruled by vampires. Last book we witnessed how violent and inhumane other vampires were a.k.a Bishop and his crew compared to our resident vamps leade by Oliver, Myrnin and our founder Amelie. It was after after Bishop's final demise, I ws afraid that our little town won't be as interesting after all that thrill and chaos. I am so glad that did not happen. Book 8, Fade Out introduce us to new characters/villains. Morley a stench-y (probably germ friendly), demented vampire threatened to kill our Claire, Shane, Eve, Michael and Amelie by late Sam Glass' tomb. That was of course at the beginning. Soon we met Kimberlie Magness goth girl like Eve, a fellow cast member of the upcoming theater production but that's all they have in common. Claire hated her with conviction. I've never seem her so jealous, made her all human and less perfect which I like. She did why she doesn't like her. After finding evidence that Kim is a huge threat to Morganville and the vampires inhibiting it. Kim is indeed a b*tch in all accounts and karma came running towards her. And then there's Ada. The vampire 2d computer brain that protects what lies in Morganville. It was a real crazy twist but nothing that you can't see coming. I guess it's inevitable to be exposed, I just never see it coming. What crazy stuffs are going to happen next? The ending as usual left me to speculate again. Will Claire and the gang find a loop hole on the deal that she made with Morley? Will Shane and Claire do it? Is it soon? (oh c'mon, don't tell me you're not waiting), now that they were given a title, what responsibilities and perks does that entails? Love the book, especially love the cover. Very catchy don't you think?Claire matured and is becoming tough. Yey for that. Myrnin continued to be my favorite vampire in this book. His lack of concern (at most situation that are not dire) and sarcastic comments and bunny ear slippers are amusing but I am really concern about Amelie. A mourning leader is a bad sign, I get that she's still vicious and she proved her strength when she confronted her 2nd in command but still, she can't let her guard down, especially when there is Oliver whose been wanting to take over the town ever since he got there, humans that looks like they are about to start a rebellion and some nasty new vampires.

      Good but not brilliant. This one is a little more sedate and less action packed but it took a worrying element (i.e. Ada) of the previous book and expanded upon it. That's what I like about this series, it flows almost effortlessly like it's one long story rather than episodes. Everything is explained and played out to its natural end.

      I instantly took a disliking to Kim, her attitude was inexcusable. I couldn't understand why Eve worshipped her. Kim's media project to expose Morganville was brilliant but I expected her obsession with Shane would lead to an Ada-like attempt on Claire's life, thankfully that didn't happen. We don't need everyone to be jealous of Claire, thinking she's stealing their potential boyfriends. When Myrnin handed over the tape of Shane and Claire and Claire asked whether he had watched it his reaction was suspicious, he may have said no but I wouldn't be surprised if he was lying. Claire is the only person who understands him, his theories and his mental state why wouldn't he be interested in her romantically speaking?

      It was inevitable that Michael would be put in the middle of the vampires and the humans or more precisely the Glass House group of friends. I'm not surprised Eve has to decide whether she can handle Michael being different, more than what he was before he became a vampire.

      I was a bit unsure of Amelie's motives in changing the status of the group. I can understand making Shane and Eve neutral but not Claire. Claire is an asset to Amelie, Claire saved her life. I would think Amelie would want to keep her close, keep that connection through the bracelet but maybe she sees that as slavery.

      I found Amelie and Oliver's relationship intriguing. They are friends but also potential enemies. I like that Oliver repositioned himself as a potential enemy again to snap Amelie out of her suicidal grieving for Sam so that she can return to her duties of overseeing Morganville.

      Now that Ada is gone and the magic surrounding Morganville is down, I wonder how things will change...

      This was from the “looked interesting, saved it from the discard pile at work” pile—I thought that it could be an entertaining cheesy read.

      If I had a major problem with the book, it’s that its number seven in an eleven book series. So, I’m walking into this blind. On the plus side, I was more interested in the backstories for all of these characters—how does Morganville work, how do newcomers deal with “Oh, hey vampires,” how did Claire end up in her current situation—and I’m actually going to look into reading the earlier books. Also, because I know that this is a larger series, it actually did feel like this was a filler book. There wasn’t really much that happened—the main plot about Claire’s new rival, Kim, getting kidnapped doesn’t show up until halfway through the book, and the whole explanation and resolution felt out of place. (But again, that also could just be me jumping in the middle of the series.)

      For the most part, I liked the characters. Eve was a fun perky Goth—I liked her reaction in the first chapter. It amuses me that Michael is the hot, guitar-playing vampire, and I did like that he has shifting loyalties between his mortal friends and the vampire hierarchy. Claire didn’t really click with me in the beginning. I like that she’s a science nerd, but her automatic dislike of Kim rubbed me the wrong way. I also didn’t like how Kim was very obviously set up to be an antagonist; the first reason we’re not supposed to like her is that she slept with Claire’s boyfriend years ago! (The whore.) It was the only really big misstep in the whole book. Oh, and to tangent off on characters that I did like—MYRNIN! Mad scientist vampire ftw! Yeah, I know they kept mentioning he was crazy up until about this book, but I enjoyed him.

      There’s some problems with the book, but overall, I had fun reading and actually really enjoyed it. I’m interested in picking up the first few books and seeing if I like them enough to keep up with the series.

      I wanted to read Fade Out because as you know if you have been following my reviews for last month of so, I have been bitten by the Morganville Vampire series bug. I love Claire and her relationship with Shane, Eve and Michael. The friendship between Claire and Eve is tested a bit in this one, but glad to see it is realistic and see how they work it out. Karen at For What It's Worth and Mary at The Book Swarm occasionally post twitter-style reviews. Karen calls hers Short and Tweet, and I am going to borrow that review style here.Tweet Review:Devoured it. Love the plot twists + hot moments between C&S. The alliances/ trusts shifts- the gray area of friend or foe changes so much.Bottom Line: Another great addition that kept me guessing plus the romance made me happy.

      The seventh installment of The Morganville Vampires, Fade Out, was no disappointment- It brought fast paced, entertaining action to this little town in Texas once again. I won't dive into a super long review like I usually do, I think most of you that would be interested in reading this have read the first six books- and if you liked all of those- you will love this one.Since my favorite character no longer appears in the books, I think I will settle for Michael being my new favorite- Myrnin coming in a close second. Something about his bipolar, serial killer, fanged bunny slipper-ness. (Yes, he rocks fanged bunny slippers! I love it!) Myrnin was great in this novel, probably the most involved character.The first half of this book was relatively weak and a bit slow for me, but when I got to about page 100, it started getting really good. This is when all the real action started and I couldn't put the book down. Let me give you a quick run down, since I haven't done a good job of that so far:"Fade Out" finds Amelie mourning the loss of her one true love and dealing with a city that is going through a period of rebellion. As she has not been herself lately humans and vampires alike are ravishing the streets doing outrageous things. Humans are slaying vampires and vampires are threatening Amelie's control. This needs to be stopped and Morganville needs to be returned to its once "peaceful" state.So many relationships are being challenged in this book. We have Michael's relationship with his three friends being tested, as well as his more intimate relationship with Eve being rocked about. (I hope their relationship doesn't last, Eve isn't one of my favorite characters...) Eve is having trouble dealing with the fact that her honey is a vampire, and Michael is having trouble riding that thin line between being apart of the vampire community and being a friend to Shane, Claire and Eve. Hmm... who else is having relationship issues? Claire finds herself drowning in a pool of jealousy when one of Shane's ex-hook ups strolls into her life. It is really hard to deal with your own jealousy when a jealous computer (Ada!) is trying to slaughter you... with massive spiders, nonetheless. But who wouldn't want crazy Myrnin all to herself?Didn't I say I wouldn't do a super long review? Gosh, I'm such a liar. Haha. I do like this series, but it isn't one of my favorites. These are good quick reads- I need a good quick read sometimes when my schedule is busy. (Finishing a book always makes me feel more productive. And believe me, you won't have trouble finishing this one!) I look forward to the next book in the series- I hope that Michael plays a bigger role. It was wonderful having Myrnin play such an involved role in this book... Michael's turn, please? Hehe..

      Another quick and enjoyable entry in the series. Not "great literature" but fun and good for a little escapism.

      The main plot didn't really start until a little more than half way through. Not a whole lot happens in the first half but the characters save it from becoming boring. I'm a big fan of Myrnin.

      Same as the other novels in the Morganville Vampire series by Rachel Caine, this book kept me riveted to its pages so thoroughly that I finished it in one sitting. It just keeps getting better with every new volume, and Rachel Caine never ceases to surprise her readers with gut-wrenching plot twists at every turn. Fade Out did not disappoint! Anyone who enjoys the paranormal fiction genre will enjoy this treat of a series.

      Yet another good addition to the Morganville Vampires series, Fade Out is all about entertainment, but with a sinister twist. Eve wins a major part in the town's production of Tennessee Williams' A Street Car Named Desire and Claire's quirky boss, Myrnin, seems to have gained his sanity. But underneath this calm surface, rebellion is simmering while Amelie grieves, Ada-the-computer has it in for Claire, and the other goth chick in town, Kim, has less-than-honest designs for Morganville with a suspicious film project in the works.
      Claire seems to have worked out a truce with her parents, which I liked since they just seem to get in the way. Her relationship with Shane is adorable and sweet, and I love their loyalty to each other even as they navigate the familiar territory of new romance. In contrast, Eve and Michael have hit a major bump in the road that I saw coming several books back - and I'm still a little annoyed that we don't get more details from Eve's perspective.
      Myrnin has to be my favorite character in the series. Even as a sane individual, he is still incredibly unique - from his fashion sense, to the unexpected things he randomly spouts, to his mercurial behavior and unpredictable loyalties among the town's inhabitants. What develops with Ada's subplot in the book shows that beneath the vampire still lurks some humanity, and he obviously has many more secrets that have yet to be revealed.
      Amelie grieves for the loss of Sam, and the way she randomly appears in Claire's day-to-day life during this period of stark vulnerability is equal parts mystifying and encouraging. While the downside of this is that the rebellious factions feel stronger, the upside is that the readers gets to see some of the characteristics typical only to humans show themselves in Amelie.
      As for Claire herself, Shane makes an observation about her that I think sums her up quite nicely. Some people come to Morganville and disappear, but when Claire came to Morganville, she began to thrive.
      Every time I pick up one of the books in this series, I simply can not stop reading until I've finished it - always the perfect blend of suspense, mystery, and supernatural elements to keep me hooked.

      The whole tone of the series has changed, but I think I'm getting used to it now. This one was definitely a lot better than book six- mostly because Shane and Claire stayed together for the most part. Eve really irritated me in this one. This is the second time she's completely abandoned Claire, and she never even bothers to apologize. This book centered around a new character, Kim. It was really fast paced, and there was a lot going on, but it was also really exciting. As usual, the gang are still in trouble at the end and I'm really anxious to find out what happens to them next.

      So now that Bishop is gone, where does that leave everyone? Happily ever after! NOT!The gang is back in Glass House and everything seems fine. Michael is working, Shane is...well, being Shane (he either got a job or I read to much fanfiction!) Claire is back with Myrinn, and Eve got a spot in a play. So what could be wrong?Claire has been friend dumped, for Kim the new kid on the block. Or, at least, new to Claire, since she wasn't raised in Morganville.Ada, the computer that controls Morganville is out to kill Claire as well.So when Kim goes missing Claire being the nice person she is goes off to help Eve find her. A good book. I liked how Ada went all crazy and it wasn't vampire vs. humans (which is still there don't get me wrong) or vampires vs. vampires (also there) but there is the new angle.Nicely down. Not really a cliffhanger, but enough to know that poor Eve and Michael are on the rocks.Can't wait for the next installment to come out.

      For people who have not read the series I feel this book almost has a fresh start it doesn’t really bring up to much of previous books to effect someone just starting now to just jump right into this book (though I recommend you read the others). It just seems like a fresh start to the series, new opportunities for this series to keep going on. Claire is a trouble magnet. Claire almost froze to death and the whole idea of a light bomb clever and unique. (have to read to find out) I always love the playful banter the characters use with each other. It makes them seem so real..I was cracking up when Shane said “Homie don’t play that.” Ha talk about another time era can we say 90’s. Not to mention they continue to use the phrase “snap”. The half the book left me in a giant mystery. It’s as if there wasn’t a plot until half way through just a bunch of smaller plots rolled into one. Kim is the new oh so cool girl who previously dated her boyfriend and is now on the track to try to get him back, Not to mention she is trying to steal her bestfriend. On page 152 things finally started toward the plot line so by page 154 I was thinking did Kim get herself kidnapped or was it someone trying to hurt her or is she just having an off day…It was nice to be able to be wrong. Not to be able to guess a books ending. In the end can Claire save the day one more time with giant spiders, whacked out computers and an insane boss? The ending was so action packed as the whole series is. It’s one of the things about her books that keep me waiting for the next. There was only little problems with the writing. I didn't understand why there wasn't follow ups, like with Claire's enormous sunburn. Now I can’t wait to find out if Michael and Eve can find it in each other to move on or stay together. Rachel Caine did not disappoint. She has the next part of the series coming out in April 2010.

      Fade Out is the 7th round in the Morganville Vampires series and it never cease to amaze. I'll be honest with you, I was kind of scared the story would get old with Bishop gone and most enemies under control but I was wrong! Caine surprised us with a brand new twist in the Morganville saga, and I never saw it coming. I find myself craving for the next book, impatient to know what Caine's got up her sleeve.I find it hard to resume the plot of that book without giving spoilers so I will refrain from doing it, but you have to know there is one new character introduced in the series. Kim, another goth girl in town, plays in the city's last production with Eve, and she's hiding more then anyone suspects.Kim is very popular, loved by everyone but Claire can't stand the sight (or thought) of her. Does it have to do with the fact that she dated Shane in the past?Our favorite vampires are indeed at the rendez-vous with more suspense and originality, and Mirnin really stole my heart in that instalment. I love his craziness, corkiness and uniqueness. The guy wears 17th century clothing with fanged-bunny slippers. Do I need to say more?Ada will also play a bigger part this time, for better or for worst!If you haven't picked that series yet, it is a great vampire series that detach from the vampire romance stream. Vampires aren't "vegetarian", nice or sexy (ok Michael is...), they are dangerous, vicious and can't be trusted. They will scare you, imprison you and tax you (in blood indeed).Welcome to Morganville!

      Things are mostly quiet in Morganville, a very suspicious state of affairs, so Claire and the gang have to deal with Amelie mourning Sam, almost to the point of her death, and Claire has to cope with Ada going insane and trying to kill her.Fun times!

Non-stop action, love, and drinking blood (yes, I know that rhymes). In other vampire books, there’s always a human who falls in love with a vampire, but in Morganville, most vampires are bad. I really, really recommend this series to be on your reading pile.       Getting a new Morganville Vampire installment is like getting your birthday and Christmas presents all at once. Its a treat that doesn't come along nearly as often as you crave. That said, each book is intense and well written. The books have always been disappointingly short in legnth, but Rachel Caine packs each page. There are no fillers in this series. I really wondered about "Fade Out" because when we last left our Glass House inhabitants, they had just helped boot evil vampire Bishop from his reign of terror over the town. Bishop's daughter Amalie was restored to power and Claire helped find a cure for the disease plaguing the vamp population. "Carpe Corpus" tied up the previous storylines in a pretty bow. Apparently life in a vampire-run town with limited access to the rest of the world can't stay calm for long. This story has the four friends trying to figure out who has planted a ton of cameras around town, and in private residences, hoping to unveil the vampire town to the world. Add in some drama between Eve and Michael, and a showdown with Ada, the computer/human hybred, and tons of my favorite Mernin and this was another surefire Morganville tale. If you can't tell by my lush praise, this is my absolute favorite series right now...adult or YA. Keep them coming Rachel Caine! I will also mention that I do also enjoy Caine's Weather Warden series...so pick both of them up starting with the first in each series if you haven't already.

      A very good villain to take the place of Bishop; a good twist to an old enemy.

      But will the four friends ever be the same after all this?
