Michelle Obama tells it like it is.
And it seems that she always has. When she graduated from Harvard Law School in 1988, her parents ran a message in the university’s yearbook. They didn’t choose a simple Congratulations!
or We’re so proud of you!
Instead, they offered up an inscription that said a great deal about their daughter and their open, loving family relationship. They wrote: We knew you would do this fifteen years ago when we could never make you shut up.
A smart, funny, and thoughtful woman, Michelle has her opinions and is not afraid to share them. At the dinner table, her parents encouraged her and her brother to assert themselves. Even as a little girl, she challenged her teachers. And there is no reason to suspect that she’ll clam up now. Luckily for her, she matches the desire to speak her mind with the ability to do it eloquently with style and humor.
Her honesty is one of the qualities that draws her friends and loved ones to her. It has also gotten her into trouble.
