Daniel Bryan Jones

I am Daniel Bryan Jones 57 years old. I was born in west Texas and have lived in Southern California most of my life. I am married with one grown daughter and three beautiful grandchildren. I have worked for myself since I married in 1975. I owned and operated a residential roofing company for the first twenty-five years. I retired from roofing in 1989 and spent the next ten years traveling the world's mission fields. When I finished my last mission trip to West Africa I went into the real estate business where I became successful in selling high end properties in southern California. I graduated high school in 1974 and have been self-taught and am a self-made man through my many business projects over the last thirty five years. I suffered a massive stroke in 2006 that was life changing. After years of recovery I started writing. I have recently been writing the amazing story of my time in the mission field. I am in the process of writing a six book series on stroke awareness, prevention and recovery. I am also writing a training and exercise manual for post stroke survivors and a guide to care giving for care givers.Lastly I have an autobiography on my life story half written up to 1999. Since my stroke I have been asked to speak at many of the South land Colleges and lecture on the effects of stroke and the awareness, prevention and recovery of stroke. I volunteer every Monday for a stroke group that lends support to those who suffer from "aphasia", a condition caused by strokes that renders it victims unable to communicate. I had recently spoke as the key note speaker at the 2012 Survivor's Symposium, for the National Institute for Speaking and Language Association. As of 2013I am now the Stroke Ambassador for the Inland Empire in Southern California for the American heart/stroke assn.

    Preface

This book contains fourteen amazing true stories. You will be witness to God’s mighty power and his unfailing love shown to his people worldwide.

I titled this book God's way, because it’s mostly about God’s saving grace that I have witnessed in my life and others that I have been fortunate enough to meet along the way.

As a missionary for ten years I was witness to God’s faithfulness and the influence of the Holy Spirit on myself and others. In the years since being in the mission field and after suffering a massive stroke in 2006, I have been moved by what I feel is the leading of the Holy Spirit to tell my story once and for all.

The players in the book are many. From fellow workers sharing Jesus’s Gospel in the mission field to the men and women I worked with at the many construction projects I was involved in, and to people I was united with by the Holy Spirit.

From the mean streets of Amsterdam to the jungle villages of Nicaragua, to the steamy port cities of the Ivory Coast in West Africa. They are all important to my story and each one has enriched my life in an important way.

In writing this book I have drawn on a life time of seeing the Father and His son Jesus and the Holy Spirit working in my life and others around me.

I hope you have as much enjoyment reading my story as much as I enjoyed living it, God’s speed to you all.

I am both delighted and astonished that Danny Jones has been able to write down these stories of God's intervention in his life. Danny and I have been friends since 1997, and all but one of these events happened since then. I know these stories to be true, as I was either there myself, or Danny told me of them at the time. Perhaps God's greatest intervention in Danny's life was allowing Danny to recover from his massive stroke in July of 2006. The morning after his stroke, Danny was an unresponsive mass of tubes in the critical care unit, and his doctors said he would not live more than a few days. But Danny had a miraculous turn for the better, and has been working hard on his stroke recovery ever since. This book is a testament to Danny's toughness and resiliency. It is a must read for anyone who is recovering from a stroke or who wants to know how God is working in the lives of everyday people.

Review 1: while reading this book, God's way, one is struck with the similarity of Danny's mission ministry to that of the apostle Paul although no one can ever come near duplicating the awesome, inspired and empowered work of Paul, Danny too answered the Holy Spirit's call to mission ministry and like Paul went where the Spirit led him. Both willingly and fearlessly entered numerous strongholds of Satan with this singular intent of saving souls for Christ. Both realized hard-fought success in their ministries and credit it all to the glory of Jesus Christ.

The individual experience described so clearly in this inspired book provides critically needed insights into the front line spiritual warfare and ministry of our missionaries down and dirty, hands on, face to face, and no quarter asked or given as Christian soldiers spiritually fight and win victories won by one in the fortified strongholds of Satan. Through the eyes of Danny Jones's story we are able to vicariously share in his and others' to wayward souls held captive by false religion, poverty, famine, and depression, destructive addictions, or demonic presence and influence. All of this work is done unselfishly for the expressed purpose of complying with the great mission commanded and asked of by a God they love and obedience to the glory of Jesus Christ.

This book is a riveting testament to the love of Christ, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the courageous commandment of dedicated spirit led missionaries personified by Danny in an often hostile and dangerous mission field. A must read for all Christians and seekers.

Review 2. God's way is an amazing read that won't let you put it down until the end. It tells of the struggles of its author, Danny Jones, and the physical and spiritual healing that comes not only in its pages but in the life of its author and those he has touched in his personal, professional, and missionary life. Review 3. God's way is a compelling story of tenacity and hope. Danny Jones's life is a testimony to how God can work in incredible ways—in both times of success and in times when the world caves in around us. Danny's straightforward style of telling his story neither minimizes his faults nor does it sugarcoat the harsh realities of life but paints the picture of the redemptive Lord who works even, and especially in those situations that seem like dead-ends. In fact, Danny's life of contrasts is a reminder that God's presence in our lives is to be desired over all the success and riches of life. God's way is the story of a God who offers us a life that truly lasts as opposed to those temporary pursuits that only pretend to offer fulfillment. Danny's exuberant and never-say-die personality and his story of commitment to Jesus is an inspiration to any who may be facing difficult times, and a powerful witness to the God who is indeed at work in this world.

    BRAIN DAMAGE MINISTRY

    J. Tom Jones & Danny B. Jones

    BRAIN DAMAGE

Brain damage resulting in permanent physical and or mental impairment rather than death can be the result of a wide variety of causes including, stroke, blunt force trauma to the head from such events as auto accidents, skiing accidents, falls, as well as diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, brain cancer, or an unintended consequence of brain surgery. This section of Brain Damage is dedicated to those conditions that have resulted in partial or total paralysis—temporary or permanent. Paralysis in and of itself presents huge challenges to the survivor, but the loss of balance often accompanies the paralysis and represents true ongoing danger. Loss of balance adversely effects the ability to walk and to sit, whether it be in a wheelchair, couch, or toilet. The degree of loss might even require strapping for those previously mundane functions. With the combination of paralysis and loss of balance no physical activity can be taken for granted. Falls are a constant and ongoing danger that can cause severe injury or even death. Previously non-threatening items such as throw rugs or children toys now represent extreme danger in causing a fall.

    .

Split level or multiple level homes are no longer fully functional to a survivor and in fact represent serious potential danger, as well as additional difficulty for the caregiver in transporting the survivor around the house. (The subject of brain damage resulting from dementia will be discussed in a separate section due to the unique manifestation and consequences.) Paralysis, partial or full, is often the result of the above but can also be the effect of serious spinal cord injuries. Whether temporary or permanent the effects are devastating to both the individual and family. In temporary paralysis the devastation is soon over and the individual and family can at some point return to a relatively normal lifestyle. To those whose impairment is both permanent and disabling the old normal lifestyle is gone forever, and the adjustment to the new ‘norm’ is very difficult indeed.

Everyone can see some of the physical manifestations of paralysis, such as someone in a wheel chair or walker in public places, but what is not readily apparent are the myriad of life altering impacts on the normal daily activities we all take for granted.

    .

It is important to realize every stroke is different, so the after effects will vary from one survivor to the next, and following is a list of some more common effects.

Speech is often adversely affected. The paralysis often affects the tongue and or mouth, causing the ability to speak and communicate to be severely impaired. The loss of speech in combination with paralysis is a terrifying experience.

Voiding bowels and bladder, including the simple task of sitting down and arising from the toilet, as well as the subsequent necessity of cleansing oneself. The indignity of receiving assistance in this most personal function.

Showers or baths. Attempting to stand for a shower or getting into and out of a tub for a bath. The actual act of washing any part of the body once in the shower or the bath. The constant threat of falls in the shower or the tub. The indignity of someone having to assist in this personal function.

Dressing with arm, hand, or leg paralysis; dressing is an extremely difficult if not impossible activity. Dressing with one hand alone or in combination with other limitations is a hard learned skill, requiring extreme patience and involving much time and practice.

Eating may no longer be a simple and pleasurable activity and in fact may be extremely difficult. Handling a knife, fork, or spoon can make chop stick dining look mundanely simple. Swallowing can be extremely difficult and one may have to learn to swallow differently or perhaps even be limited to liquid or
