History - Jordan Wells
Author’s Foreword
We are not makers of history. We are made by history.
– Martin Luther King, Jr.
Whenever I hear people say that history repeats itself, I feel that they say it as if they do not want history to be repeated. However, I am almost sure that if history ever does repeat itself again, I would want it to be exactly the way these ancient civilizations have lived their life. I can just imagine how life must have been very exciting if I were a full-fledged citizen of the empires of Greece, Rome, China, Gaul, and Persia. Imagine being a part of history in the making!
The names of these civilizations are very familiar but their origins, the personalities, their rise, and their fall are less known. I wanted to satisfy my curiosity and understand how their history has affected our present. When I found out how the earliest form of a truly democratic government was invented by the Greeks, how a world religion can trace its roots in Rome, how the Four Great inventions can be credited to the Chinese, how progressive the Celts were or how massive the empire of Persia has become, I was hooked on learning more.
My curiosity started when I went on a short tour to Beijing, China and later Rome, Italy. The ruins left in the Eternal City and the palaces still being used in the Forbidden City piqued my interest. I was only passing and looking at these places but then I began to image. What would it be like if I were living in these ruins or palaces when the civilizations that built them were still the empire that they were?
Getting to know these stories are better than any fictional story published now! Each story is full of twists, turns, victories, defeats, and even the occasional trivia that has yet to be proven until now. Getting a glimpse of these places is one thing but actually getting a peak of the empires at their zenith that is another thing.
I am sure that our imagination has no limits, allow this book to help you picture the lives of the ancient civilizations in your mind and rediscover their stories.

For example, the Greeks believed that the Titan Prometheus and the goddess Athena created their bodies and life.
