Praise for The Moon Cried Blood

Cycles of the moon, Generations of women, a young woman unaware of her incredible gift. A delicate weaving of history, character development and esoteric overlay that makes for an interesting saga. I read it twice, I missed a lot in the first round with all the symbolism. A lot of work went into the background and technical aspects of the writing itself and it shows.

This is not a Twilight or Harry Potter book. In my opinion, it's better. There is a very complex plot that thickens with every page. The characters, and there are many, are quite detailed. You don't know what's going to happen, even as it's happening. That has been missing with many books these days, and I'm glad to see it here.

I really enjoyed Legend of the Luna - always nice to find someone working in the genre who goes beyond shock & gore and into subtle, emotional, and psychological aspects of characters.

Sumiko can spin one mean tale. From the beginning I was engaged and kept wondering what was going to happen next. Brilliant imagery along with gritty surprises keep you reading through this urban tale.

    A Journey

Vicki and Alita flew through time in the realm of dreams, passing from wolf eye to wolf eye, until all went dark and they fell. Alita lifted herself from the ground, and wiped leaves off her skirt. Vicki stood also, but even in dreams, nothing stuck to her. However, she was under Alita’s spell and still felt what she felt.

Ow! she cried, standing up and grasping her knees.

A girl came out from behind a tree. She was young, and very thin, and accompanied by a wolf. Hello, Vicki, she said, greeting the spirit, and to you, Alita.

Where are we? Vicki asked, looking around.

Silence, woman! Alita screamed. She gestured with one hand and Vicki fell to the ground. But her question is a good one. Where are we? And who are you?

I think she should stand, the young girl said, waving her hand upright. Vicki stood to her feet. Thank you, honey. Victoria said, looking dazed. Alita tried to force her back down, but she had no power. Angry, she flung her arm at the girl, and a little fizzle came out of it.

    The child giggled.

    Then the wolf spoke.

You are in the dreams of your mother, Vicki, young Alita, she said. The wolf’s eyes opened, and reflected in them was the moon. It seemed like more than a reflection, it looked as though her eyes were moons. Her fur was brown and gray, with a white tuft at her chest.

You presume much, but you know little, said the wolf. You believe you can travel back to the first Becoming, but you forget, you travel through your mother’s line now. She is twice over on the Line of Beyond. She is daughter of the Luna of Beyond, and the Gray Wolf, who took the wolf spirit from the Line of Beyond.

Now you imagine that your unfortunate unborn sister, daughter of the White Wolf, gives you power over time, but you are a fool, yet again, because her father was the wolf of the Becoming.

"You are the daughter of three Luna lines, only, and only three Wolves – the Brown Wolf, your father, the Gray Wolf, your mother, and the White Wolf, your sister’s father. But you
