About this ebook

Adopted as a baby, Giles Frobisher has grown up with every privilege. Encouraged by his best friend—and secret crush—Oz to seek out his birth mother, he’s appalled to discover she’s loud, lower-class, and insists on calling him Wayne!

Giles’ snobbier-than-thou, none-too-faithful boyfriend Hugh is equally horrified, and Oz, who’s always been secretive about his own family, starts acting very strangely.

It seems Giles is about to learn that good breeding has nothing to do with who your parents are!

JL Merrow

JL MERROW is that rare beast, an English person who refuses to drink tea. She read Natural Sciences at Cambridge, where she learned many things, chief amongst which was that she never wanted to see the inside of a lab ever again. Her one regret is that she never mastered the ability of punting one-handed whilst holding a glass of champagne. She writes across genres, with a preference for contemporary gay romance and mysteries, and is frequently accused of humour. Her novel Slam! won the 2013 Rainbow Award for Best LGBT Romantic Comedy, and her novella Muscling Through and novel Relief Valve were both EPIC Awards finalists.JL Merrow is a member of the Romantic Novelists’ Association, International Thriller Writers, Verulam Writers and the UK GLBTQ Fiction Meet organising team.Find JL Merrow online at: www.jlmerrow.com, on Twitter as @jlmerrow, and on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/jl.merrow

This is an interesting story about a man who discovers his past, or rather the circumstances of his birth and biological mother, aren't quite what he thinks. It is well written and led me along the path with him as he unveils the facts, and deals with them. Friends may not be who they seemed either, so Giles really has a lot to deal with here.

If you like stories about discovering who you really are (in the genetic sense), if you like the slow reveal of dawning truth, and if you're looking for a short read that might make you think, you will probably like this free book.

Another one where JL Merrow shows off her knack for class code-switching dialogue to brilliant effect, while bringing a message of acceptance, kindness, and empathy.

Good Breeding

By J.L. Merrow

The bouquet of pink carnations in Giles’s hand was suffering slow strangulation as his nerves overtook him. He stood in the doorway of the pub he’d ducked into for a bit of Dutch courage, staring at the house opposite.

This was, quite possibly, the biggest day of his entire life. I can’t do it! he hissed.

His friend Oz clapped him bracingly on the shoulder. Yes, you can, he said firmly. Come on. What’s the worst that can happen?
