About this ebook

Milo has a pretty good life: nice house, decent job, plenty of time to devote to the movies and games he loves. He also has a hot neighbor, Lewis, who frequently comes by to drag Milo out of his house. If Milo wishes they were more than neighbors, well, he's working on it.

Then Lewis asks Milo for advice on how to catch the notice of a geek—a man that is everything Milo is not, a man who turns his life into a living hell and makes it painfully clear that Lewis will never see him as anything but the nerd across the street.

    LOOKING for MORE

Milo jerked awake, then groaned and buried his face in his pillow, blocking out the eye-burning sunlight. What the hell time was it? Dragging his head up, he stared blearily at the red numbers that informed him it was 11:32. Ugh, he really needed to talk to the guild leaders about starting raid times earlier.

He stumbled out of bed and only then registered the banging. That explained why the hell he was awake.

It had to be Lewis. He was the only one who beat the poor door that hard, and no one else ever came to Milo's house, and definitely not before noon because they knew exactly how hard he would gank them.

Halfway across his bedroom, Milo remembered he had gone to bed naked. Swearing, turning red even though there was no reason to turn red except his mom's stupid genes, he snatched clothes out of the 'clean' basket, then bolted down the hall. He stopped halfway when he realized everything was still too blurry, ran back for his glasses, then rushed back down the hallway to finally yank open the front door. He'd been awake ten minutes and already there was entirely too much work involved. Ugh.

Hey, Milo! You're looking as bright and alert as ever.

Milo scowled. What do you want, Lewis?

You're, like, the only geek I know who will have anything to do with me, Lewis replied, and Milo really found that hard to believe because Lewis had soft-looking blond and pretty, green-yellow eyes, and it was obvious he could play any sport in existence with all those marvelous muscles—

And he really needed to stop.

So I really need your help, Lewis finished.

    Huh? Milo asked.

I said, you're the only geek I know who will associate with me, and I've tried on my own like tons of times and am out of ideas, so I really need your help.

I'm not fixing your computer or doing your homework or your work-work or anything else you think falls under Duties of the Neighborhood Geek, Milo said.

Lewis laughed. Nothing like that, man.

    Then what? Milo asked.

Dude, it's nothing dangerous or even difficult, Lewis said with a brief laugh. Stop looking like I'm going to murder you. I'll tell you over lunch. Least I can do is feed you, given I woke you up and am asking a favor. I'm guessing you went to bed no sooner than ... four thirty?

Quarter to five, Milo said, surprised. How the heck did you know that?

Lewis snickered. Your pants aren't buttoned, your shirt is inside-out, your glasses are crooked, and your hair is, um, interesting.

I hate you. Milo slammed the door in Lewis' face and stomped back down the hall to his bedroom.

A moment later he heard the front door open and close again, the sound of Lewis's laughter trickling down the hall. Stripping off his stupid clothes, Milo crossed the room to the bathroom.

He closed the bathroom door, then turned the shower on, cranked the water to practically-scalding, and climbed in. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Why couldn't he ever manage to be, like, normal and adult and put together? Just once he would like Lewis to see him as more than the idiot geek across the street. Just once he wished Lewis would buy him lunch or dinner as a date. Hell, he didn't actually care about the buying part. He just wanted their lunches to stop being because Lewis was bored or needed something.

Ugh, he would so rather still be asleep, especially since it was already looking to be a crappy day. Scrubbing and shaving, he finally climbed out of the shower and went in search of clothes, making certain this time that everything was on correctly. He also realized it was way past time to do laundry when the only boxer options in the clean basket were unicorns or candy canes.

Where the hell had he even
