About this ebook
Who says you can never go home again? Go back to high school with Abby and Jesse, back to a simpler time, back to where it all began… before that fateful day on that icy mountain road that would change them both forever.
It’s almost Thanksgiving and the biggest soccer game of Abby Craig’s life is just days away. But before she can focus on scoring goals, she has to help Jesse solve a mystery that’s been haunting the school’s basketball team for the last fifty years. Meanwhile, her boyfriend Conner is proving to be a whole different kind of distraction. Will Abby be able to juggle it all or will her junior year end up being a real turkey?
This heartwarming story is the prequel to FORTY-FOUR, which has been downloaded by more than half a million readers.

chapter ONE
So, does this make you Thelma?
I whispered.
No, Craigers. It’s obvious that I’m Fred.
Are you sure? I mean, sure you’re tall and kind of our fearless leader, but I think deep down you’re more like a Thelma. Isn’t she the one who ends up solving most of the mysteries anyway?

he said. Coach Mickelson told us that someone had sneaked into the gym the night before and left all the basketballs out on the floor and the radio on in his office.
Nothing broken or stolen?
No, nothing like that.
So then what’s the big deal?
I said,
