I've always enjoyed putting words to paper. Creating fantastical stories in my head and then watching them translate into short stories or poems, or sometimes just writing about my thoughts and feelings throughout the most crucial stages of my life, as a way of capturing my emotions at that point of time. Whichever, the written word has always enthralled me, helped me find solace and been my constant diversion from reality. My first book, Finding the Rainbow is a personal memoir, detailing our passage towards family planning, I was full of hope and excitement for something I was confident would be a sure path. I was so naïve to the struggles that many women face, and conceitedly, infertility or loss was not something I fathomed would happen to me. It was an unspoken grief that many of my friends had already experienced, yet no one openly voiced. It was only after the fact, often when good news finally prevailed, or sadly when hope was lost, that stories were shared. But only sometimes! I am now excited to be publishing a series of children's books aimed at middle school and early readers. I look forward to continuing to write both fiction and non fiction - reaching an audience of people and connecting through my writing.

Grimwald's Evil Plan - Rachel McGrath
CHAPTER ONE
Being good is so boring! I know because I’m surrounded by it. Good people always wanting to do good things! Boring!
My name is Grimwald, and I am a fairy-in-training at the Good Fairy School. I am eight years old, and I am told that when I grow up I need to grant wishes and help princesses and princes find true love and happiness. I am supposed to help make those happy-ever-after endings you read about in books.
Don’t you think that sounds just so dull? It makes me feel sick! I don’t want to be the ‘good fairy!’
I am pretty sure that you have read all those fairy tales. You know, the ones where the good fairy grants a wish for a poor, sad girl to help her meet her handsome prince? Then they instantly fall in love, get married, and live in a grand kingdom where blue birds sing, and everyone is so happy forever! The end! For me, the entire idea just sounds so gross and so girly.
I would much prefer a story where evil wizards play tricks to get the pretty girl to marry rats and spiders, or the prince gets locked in a dungeon, and princesses have to live with dwarfs or goblins.
Now that story sounds like so much more fun. Don’t you think so? I do!
CHAPTER TWO
I am supposed to be Grimwald the Good Fairy. Ugh! Yuck!
The problem is that I am a boy! Think about it. Have you ever read a book where the good fairy is a boy? None, because that would just be dumb! Fairies are meant to be filled with glitter, wings, and pretty dresses. I think it would look really silly if I turned up to help a princess. I don’t think a princess would even believe that I could be her good fairy.
Did you know that many of the fairy tales you might have read with fairies and fairy godmothers may have actually been men? It doesn’t sound so pretty when you say fairy godfather. So they changed it. That’s where my problem starts! Whatever ‘good’ I may actually do would not even be put into those fairy stories. Children all over the world have been told to believe in fairy godmothers not fairy godfathers. So I can never really be famous for being good. I just know that no one will ever hear of Grimwald the Good Fairy, because it just does not sound right!
I bet that they would even change my name to Gretchen or Griselda, so it sounds more romantic. How is that fair?
In the magical kingdom where I live, everyone is a fairy. We come from generations of good fairy families. There are hundreds of us! Maybe this sounds a little bit weird to you? Of course, you do believe in fairies, don’t you?
I have a small family where I am the only child. My parents come from a long line of good fairies that have helped kings and queens find true love and happiness. They have thwarted many evil plans from sorcerers, dragons, witches, wizards, wicked stepmothers, and even trolls. Many of those stories that you may have even read about.
Obviously, that is what I am expected to do as well. I have no choice but to grow up like my parents and learn to grant good deeds and wishes for the future princesses and princes. It is my job to ensure that everyone gets their happy ever after!
Every Christmas, birth, and wedding, my family is invited to attend the grand banquets and celebrations in the royal castles. This is because my mum and dad have always been so good, and their magic has always saved the day. They dine with the king and queen, are seated at the royal table, and are given wonderful gifts. Me? I am left to play with the royal children. They are so spoilt, and they expect me to grant their every wish. Nothing ever changes, and there is no excitement in my life.
Sometimes I wonder if I was switched at birth. All this doing good deeds and wish granting really is not for me. I just do not want a magic wand that sprinkles fairy dust and makes dreams come true! I do not want a happy ever after. I want to have some fun!
I want to be different from everyone I know. I want to see what really happens when the bad guys win. Surely it has to be more exciting than this?
I bet you must want to ask me why I wouldn’t want to be good?
Good just seems just so tiresome! Everyone around me is good, and
