Victim of Circumstance - 3 Poe Tales Twisted & Spun Into 1 Story

About this ebook
A highly and unusual humorous horror story consisting of 3 of Edgar Allan Poe stories twisted and woven into 1.
The Raven, The Tell-Tale Heart and The Black Cat are the inspiration for this entertaining story. The protagonist swears every bad thing he does is done because he is a victim of circumstance and nothing more.
He is writing a journal the day before he is to be executed for his crimes. The journal is his means of convincing everyone who reads it that he is not and never was a mad man. He is simply a man obsessed with large breasts who is being tortured and driven to the brink of sanity by things that are out of his control.
Knight adds a twist in the way he uses the black cat and the Raven to enhance the story.
Is Lenore a woman sent from the heavens or something else?
Two policemen who do not believe his story but cannot find evidence of a crime.
I dare you to read this story without shaking your head and rolling your eyes and sometimes laughing out loud. You've heard of fractured fairy tales . . . think of this as a fractured horror tale. It's done tongue in cheek and you'll likely be waiting for the authors next such book.
Here is an excerpt . . .
My first wife was named Jeannie. She was gorgeous. I mean I’m talking knock down gorgeous.
I can still remember the day we first met. We took to each other immediately. I had no idea who she was but her eyes were mesmerizing.
I can’t remember their color but I was standing in line to get a triple scoop hot fudge brownie sundae when I saw her standing in another line. I forgot about the triple scoop hot fudge brownie sundae and walked over to introduce myself. I couldn’t help but stare into those deep something color eyes.
“Are you staring at my breasts?” she asked.

I write books for middle grade and young adults. They range from scary to spun fairy tales and more. Most of the stories, including the scary ones, are basically fantasy tales. YOu need to have an open mind when you read them. :-) That's one of the reasons I enjoy writing for the younger audience. I really think it's also why many adults are reading these types of books. To escape reality.

Victim of Circumstance - 3 Poe Tales Twisted & Spun Into 1 Story - B.D. Knight
Jeannie
I’ve decided to write a quick journal before they fry me in the electric chair tomorrow. I’m not making a confession or anything. It might appear that I am but I am not.
You’ll probably think I’m a mad man. I’m not a mad man. It’s just that circumstances beyond my control have led to me being in this prison trying to decide what I’ll request for my last meal.
I’ve had two wives and a lover and all of them met with an untimely death. Well, my lover was Lenore, but I’ll let you come to your own conclusions as to what happened to her. I understand I may have had something to do with these tragedies but again, I ask you to hold judgment on me until I tell my story.
My favorite of the three was the last of my loves. Her name was Lenore. I mean what’s that all about. Lenore? Her ignorant parents couldn’t have named her Jennifer or Christine or some name with a ring to it?
Lenore?
Even so she was my favorite. We were unable to marry for reasons I will later explain but she was like a gift from the heavens. It was her disappearance that brought me down thanks to that stupid Raven. But more on that later.
Are you staring at my breasts?
she asked.
I jerked back and acted offended.
No,
I said. I was looking at your eyes.
My eyes are up here and you haven’t glanced at them once.
I tried to cover up my embarrassment by coughing.
I’m so sorry,
I said. My allergies are acting up and you’re kind of blurry. Let me make it up to you by buying you a triple scoop hot fudge brownie sundae.
Are you really that dense?
she asked. I’m standing in line to buy Tofu. What makes you think I would want a stupid sundae?
It’s not a stupid sundae. It’s a triple scoop . . .
She threw her hands into the air and her breasts did a little hulu type jiggle.
I know! I know! Now would you please quit bothering me?
But I wanted to ask you out.
Seriously?
she asked. Why in the world would I want to go out with a complete dunce like you? Do I look desperate to you? Do I, you lowlife? And are you ever going to look at my freaking face?
If you don’t want to go out, we could just go back to my mansion and watch some TV and maybe . . .
She grabbed my arms.
Your mansion?
she asked. You have a mansion?
I nodded.
She must have realized rather suddenly that we were meant for each other. It was probably when she noticed I was actually a pretty good looking guy. She turned to the girl standing next to her.
Don’t wait up,
she said as she turned back to me. Let’s go.
I didn’t budge.
"I haven’t yet had my triple scoop hot fudge
